I went to the above site and selected the appropriate product, however, it was not clear that it covered my specific vehicle or when the updates were made and at ÂŁ169 + postal charges I may resort to using my TomTom which is updated regularly for a fraction of the cost.
That is the incorrect link for the DS system. Your link relates to Freelander 2/Discovery 4 sat Nav units. Unless you have an early release DS (late 2014/early2015, this system is not fitted to your vehicle. The giveaway is that it's marked Gen2.1

I didn't realise how hot a topic this was until I tried to get a map update!

I purchased my MY 17 SEtech 150 in February 20187 ( registered in July 2017). It was previously registered to the dealership and when I eventually took delivery it only had 48 miles on the clock. A bargain as I got it for 20% less than the new equivalent price as dealership was selling it as a 'used' vehicle. Hardly used at all! They said it was a virtually unused demonstrator/courtesy car. But their mistake was that they advertised it as having 6500 miles on the clock. They were seemingly surprised when I pointed out on the test drive that the mileage was only reading 29 miles!

Anyway, on my travels recently I noticed that the Catthorpe interchange ( M1,M6,A14) junction was incorrect (completed in 2016) so asked for a map update. As expected I was advised to go to the web site and get the update, which asked me for ÂŁ97 for the privilege....no way! I did notice that the activation date of my SD card was 4/7/17 and the new database they want me to purchase ended in 26.3.9908.
For information my current software version is 9.12.38.669223 and database version is JLRNLIFC6EU;HMEU26.1.9780.

I asked my dealer to investigate this, and they came back, having contacted LR who said that there were currently no updates :!: :!: When I asked why the web site HAD indicated an update was available, they washed their hands of it and have referred me to LR customer service saying, by the way, that I can't have a free upgrade from the dealership as I purchased a used vehicle. WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT WHEN YOU SEE THE MILEAGE AT POINT OF SALE!!!! I wonder what the real definition of used is as related to car sales?

Now I noticed on page 28 of this thread that someone managed to get a free upgrade clearing this exact problem in the same location and having the same software and database versions as myself....but theirs was FREE!!

So having read through this thread I was wondering if anyone has a relevant e mail address for LR as I fear that ringing them will bear no fruit at all in this respect. Also, how up to date is the database version that I have?

Many thanks

Success. :D
Having harried JLR for some while they have agreed, as a goodwill gesture, to let me have the latest Sat nav sd card free of charge.
Apparently the dealer refused to pay for this on the basis I had bought a 'used vehicle.
Hey ho.
I'm happy...or will be when the sd card arrives.

Good result CSMNorman, and thank you for updating us all.

P155 poor attitude by the dealer - the sat Nav is an integral part of the vehicle, used or not, wouldn't you agree? Therefore, not only should it have had the latest software updates when it went through the workshop pre-delivery to you, then this should have included mapping updates as well. Chances are, as is becoming common, the dealer didn't bother his backside doing anything prior to handover, other than getting it washed!

Glad you got it sorted. Persistence pays dividends! 👍

Hi All

Just so I am sure I still have the latest (and greatest!) maps in my January 2017 DS, please can someone confirm the current version please?
Perhaps via a screen shot.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Barns

Follow up question though having gone into the Naviextra program with my flash card..
Reads it ok, registered ok etc...

When clicking the update option, nothing happens or is offered; can I assume that means I have the latest map version already?

Mine software version is:
9.12.38.669223
Database version:
JLRNLIFC6EU;HMEU26.3.9908

You'll have to find someone with an SD card , my car is long gone now so I can't check.
Can anyone else on here help out with latest version of maps for SD card ?

It must be
I updated mine about 2 weeks ago it was software 9.12.38.655421 and data base was 26.1.9780 then.
Yours is newer
So far the updates are light years away from reality.
The Norwich outer bypass at the airport does not show on my update 2 weeks ago, the bypass was finished 6 months ago!!!
I will update again now I know there is a newer update, will let you know.

The French have changed their speed limits on minor roads a few days ago, will this be on the newer update I wonder as I will be passing through France next month.
TomTom have updated their Maps on the same day

Thanks to all for contributions to this thread, I wouldn't of attempted it otherwise.

Just tried to update and it is the latest JLRNLIFC6EU;HMEU26.3.9908
However the system wants me to buy it!!!!!
I have only ever had 1 free update which was 2 weeks ago which was in the real world a joke update anyway, as no way was that the latest Map (re my previous post ).
So guess I will stick with TomTom then, I will not consider paying for these updates till they actually are up to date.
LR really need to get their finger out here OR stop putting Sat Nav systems in their cars.

Round and round we go, we've been here before - built in SatNav is a different world to standalone / app based SatNav. Always has been, unlikely to get any better soon.

No, they don't have the latest road additions. Yes, they can cost money to upgrade. Yes, tha latest version can be out of date the next day, it's the world of updates to anything.

Personally I live with it and use Waze when I need something better - a few times a year, I 'drive across fields' sometimes and then it catches up. Really not worth ranting about.

Dashnine I disagree with you
TomTom already supply and support Dash Nav systems in Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia,Smart, Peugeot, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Renault.
No one expects a free system after the 1st year of use and everyone should be able to have an up to date Map if they want to purchase one.
Its up to all us consumers to complain to the Car Manufacturer and not live with it.
I am about to do that right now.

You only have to buy it on the ICT system ICTP is free for 3 years.
I suppose you get (or don't get) what you pay for.

And do you get the same update frequency with built-in Tom Tom as you do with the standalone devices?

Via Tom Tom or the manufacturer?

Tom Tom has already appeared as an app for In Control Apps on Android phones, it's supposed to be out for IOS soon too.
So if you have Incontrol Apps you will eventually get Tom Tom nav on ICTP.

So I suspect the updates will be via the app on the phone.

However did we used to manage?

I know a lot of members will say they paid a lot of money for their DS and expect better than this. Well it could have been done but it would have made the cars even more expensive.

I'm with -9. Take it for what it is and get on with life.

Agree chippy,
Jaguar have even ditched ICT in MY19 , no point running two systems . So they all get 10.2 inch screen , but you buy options for nav etc .to add on .
I guess it cuts developement cost s for two systems, maps for two systems etc etc. Cost cutting I suppose but a good idea tbh.
I wondered if the MY19 DS new orders would do the same .
