Two things about maps that annoy me:-
1) Several people that have never paid for a map update, get the latest map update free, but people like me who have already paid out ÂŁ97 six months ago, are asked for another ÂŁ97.
2) The latest map update is listed as a Q3 2016 map. I bought my map in Q2 2017 (several months after that map's date), but I was only offered an even older map.
Go figure!
The experience does not give me much confidence of buying through NNG/naviextra.

**** SOLVED *****
I contacted Customer Relations(CRC) about my issue (of not getting a free Sat-Nav upgrade like everyone else). Unlike most people I had paid ÂŁ97 to get a previous map upgrade, which ending up stopped me getting the free upgrade to the latest version. Go figure!
My initial interaction (by email) with CRC was a complete waste of time. Almost every single thing I was told was either factually incorrect, highly misleading or irrelevant information. The reply was a pure PR exercise, by someone who cannot have any understanding of what a Customer Service role entails.
After repeated attempts, I only made progress when I insisted I communicated with someone who actually knew about Sat-Navs. Fortunately, I got to someone in CRC who understood the issue and took it seriously for the first time. After some further time I was asked to supply detailed factual evidence. After more time I was sent a code to get a free map upgrade to use now, or anytime in the future, for a map upgrade. Result.
The reason given was because I "had purchased the previous update prior to June 2017".
Anyone in the same position as myself can send me a private message and I will supply you my CRC case number for you to quote with CRC. Hopefully you should get the same result.
For your information my car uses an SD card, so I dont know if my success would be the same for users with CD units requiring USB sticks i.e. InControl Touch Pro units.
