Hi County,
no don’t have a conditionper, did you have the battery tested first?
Nope I didn't, after nearly 4 years of use I just replaced it as in my opinion I was more than pleased with life cycle of it. On other vehicles I have, non stop start, a battery does well to last 3 years, current on MY10 VW Polo is doing great though, into year 5 now so expecting replacement this winter.

Well I guess 6 years isn't too bad then. The stop start hasn't worked for ages, not that I miss it. Have new bosch battery on the way.
I wonder what the damage would be for a software update? My display has been saying I'm due for a service for last 2k miles but as have none dealer services twice yearly they can't clear this one. Don't really want to pay jlr prices again for basic services bu then they do include software updates.

I use a C-tek occasionally as I've not been driving as much. I don't get a low batery warning and the tailgate opns fine but the stop/start doesn't work. It's in the dealer next week for service and MOT and investigation. I've rarely had to replace the battery on previous cars I've owned.

I'm having the same issues. I replaced the battery and the Sport is starting. I went out to drive it like recommended but I was getting additional error messages. Tire monitor is showing all wheels low and the car said it was overheating but I had just started it. Also the air conditioner did not seem to be work. I turned the car off and the fan continued to run even though the engine did not feel hot.

Was this a new or used vehicle? And what type of journeys?
As usual LR dealers don’t give a ....after you have purchased car and it is out of warranty. Low battery warning light came on a week ago. Long trip seems to have resolved issue. Lots of comments about driving styles, real problem is they shouldn’t be selling these cars if not suitable for multiple short journeys….quite frankly would never buy one again 😡

🤨 But how old is your vehicle, batteries don’t last forever.

The dealer advised the battery needed replacing and I told them I'd source one. However, maybe because they reset the battery module the stop start now works again and still no low battery warning. Result

When my 2017 Sport HSE has been standing for two or three days without use, I can open the drivers door, or the powered tailgate, then a message flashes up on the display telling me the battery is low and to start the engine. This message is accompanied by a bleep. If I have opened the tailgate it will not close automatically when I press the button - until I start the engine.

The car is going into the dealers for it to be looked into but I wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem.
I have a 2017 Disco Sport SE Tech 🤡. Low battery warning light light came on last week. I’ve had so many problems with car and not a particularly helpful response from Main Dealer…..who now charge £30 for courtesy car….COVID contamination 🤔. Drove to Bristol and back …320 miles, warning light 💡 disappeared. Someone needs to hold LR to account for selling cars (diesel) that are not fit for purpose….when you buy a car from them, no mention of how you should drive them to stop irritating return to dealers! Scandalous 🤬

Low battery warning has nothing to do with your car being a diesel. Remember it's a 5 year old battery and if your not doing much driving then it will affect it. Look at getting yourself a Ctek battery conditioner. They're £60 odd pounds well spent.

Today a colleague with a 4 year old Merc 4x4 diesel came to me asking why did I think that his car had given up with the stop/start function. His normal commute is 4 miles each way, but he took it for a 100 mile blast to top up the battery. Didn't help. Quick check and I gave him the news that the battery was passed its best. He was shocked as Mercs are bullet proof, pointed out that Merc don't make batteries and that with all the gadgets he has 4 years for a battery was acceptable. His response was that maybe he should sell the car and get something more reliable.

Just to follow up on stop/start , mine hasn’t been working for a few months so when it went in for service last week mentioned it as still original battery, 4 years, battery ok but BMS recalibrated and a software update applied for fix, known issue. All’s fine now. 👍

My car is 6 years old and still with the original battery, yesterday forgot to turn off the start/stop and start/stop activated no problem. Today it is cold and have the seat warmers on along with the heated steering wheel and both defrosters so I did not bother to turn the feature off .

Why turn it off?

Why turn it off?
In the summer it is a pain, when I stop, the engine turns off and then the A/C restarts the engine, in spring and fall (and winter) when it rains the windshield starts to mist up sometimes. On a long trip or a spirited drive I always let my car idle for a few minutes to allow the turbo to cool down and the engine to cool enough to eliminate hot spots.

Estimate that my battery will last 2 more years and the starter for ever.

Don't have a CTEK but have a Maypole Smart Charger (MP7428 8A 12V Electronic Smart Charger - Maypole)

Not used on the DS yet, but used with other vehicles with no problems.

Anybody used one of these to charge their DS? Looking at the responses on here, seems only the CTEK is used/recommended with the DS but if I can use what I have rather than buying another (CTEK) charger, I would rather do that.

Looking at the link you posted seems similar to the Ctex👍

Looked at the specs and it does not seem to have a dedicated AGM battery setting so it may not charge fully as the AGM uses higher voltages. But it says it is fully automatic so give it go(y)

It's now been 3 weeks since technician visited and updated Gateway (through which all electric gizmos go) software and cleaned all connections and (fingers crossed, touch wood) all seems fine. Stop/start working fine and no nasty messages on the screen!
Hi, what exactly is the 'gateway'? Is it something that can be updated without a technician?

I have this issue on my DS, I am concerned what the price might be to resolve this by taking it to LR.

I don't know if I should buy a new battery first to see if that resolves it. I have no issues with start/stop. I find when this warning comes up, I then get a gearbox fault appear on the screen and the car won't go in to 'D'. After turning it off and leaving it a few minutes it clears and all works again.
