Totally understand BFGDSMan - moved away from JLR myself after 16 years/10 vehicles (not counting 3 rejected) because of the poor service and issues

It was a hard choice but the right choice in the end- good luck with your Merc

Do we know for sure that this was the case?

The other supposition is that they had to fulfill a commitment to take the agreed number of 2.2 litre engines or pay a penalty for not doing so.
No we don't but why spend millions/billions designing a new model and tooling a production line to fit an obsolete engine for 1 year unless the replacement wasn't ready

If they had to use up engines already ordered knowing the legislation changes coming they could of continued fitting them in existing evoque but really should of planned things better

No they spent years designing yet launched a new model with old engine then rushed new engine to meet deadline

Middle tab on your screen shot is ringing alarm bells Barnsh

Here's a nice clear diagram showing dpf, def and scr setup

Think this clarifies dpf and scr are 2 different things

please keep up even VDS has admitted the DS does not have a dpf
Apologies for not keeping up - I stopped following this thread when it became a P'ing contest

It started off very enlightening though and hopefully helped lots of owners- it's being sabotaged now I'm afraid

That's your opinion CG but where is your evidence :?

I've seen enough posts from people here and other LR forums about oil degradation and services needed before 2 years to know what's fake news and what's real

From the Telegraph

Yes they are different, a mazda is different again as is a tractor as is a VW as is a truck,
that is not conclusive
No offence intended CG but none of them share an ingenium engine and other components so I fail to see the relevance :?

Attacking someone who has been let down by LR and shared their experiences is not cool CG - if you don't agree post evidence or ignore their posts but please don't drive them away :?

The forum works best if we read the good and the bad and make up our own minds IMHO!

RRS flashed up service due message in centre of speedo/rev counter when you pressed start button but it was so quick I missed it as I was usually fastening seat belt or setting off

I set reminder on phone calendar to be safe

Sons mini displays message on steering dials and you have to cancel to remove or it stays there - the Mitsubishi displays when next service due everytime you open door and get in vehicle and when you switch off - it stays there until you exit or start vehicle

You only get 2 services on the ÂŁ499 package which is 4 years not 5 as advertised so be aware

JHutchins post would make sense

8 months into a 2 year service interval is more than just early

From Handbook do any of these apply :?

ARDUOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS

When a vehicle is operated in extremely arduous conditions, more frequent attention must be paid to servicing requirements.

Arduous driving conditions include:

1. Driving in dusty and/or sandy conditions.

1. Driving on rough and/or muddy roads.

3. Frequent wading.

4. Frequent driving at high speeds in high ambient temperatures above 50ÂşC.

5. Frequent driving in severe cold weather below -40ÂşC.

6. Frequent driving in mountainous conditions.

7. Frequent trailer towing.

8. Driving in areas using road salt or other corrosive materials on the driving surface.

Contact a retailer/authorised repairer for advice.

No way

Never heard of this and this will soon use up your service plan if you have it or increase your service costs if you don't :(

Minis tell you when service is expected by date and miles - it also shows brakes etc - does the DS have this in menu - I will need to check :?
