Incontrol Apps - specifically Sygic

So I'm in the market for a used DS - probably a 15 or 65 plate and likely to be either an SE Tech or HSE. Experience tells me that forums are much better than the sales guys for anything more detailed than basic spec :)

Now I am obsessed with Navigation with Real Time Traffic Information (RTI) and currently have Android Auto/Apple Car Play in my VW Head Unit. I am not wedded to these technologies but do want RTI even if it's Tom Tom etc (like my Renault for example)
is
When I look at LR incontrol apps online, I see that one of the apps is Sygic and that they are doing a deal which €20 (from memory) and includes RTI.

So my questions are this:-

1) Is incontrol available as standard on the SE Tech or HSE (MY 15/65)
2) If not, is it easily 'upgradeable' - i.e. I pay a fee to LR to enable it
3) If the above is possible, are all incontrol apps available regardless of MY

and 4) if the above is ALL possible, has anyone used the RTI version of Sygic and is it any good.

5) on a separate app - will Spotify show on the head unit (if incontrol is enabled).

If the answer to any of the above is NO - then that's a deal breaker for me so fingers crossed that it's all possible and works well :)

Many thanks!!

Niel,

1) Is incontrol available as standard on the SE Tech or HSE (MY 15/65)

InControl Touch is available on both models. The features will vary according to the model and options added at purchase. You CANNOT add options post purchase or to a second hand car.

2) If not, is it easily 'upgradeable' - i.e. I pay a fee to LR to enable it

LR do not allow any updates to features that were not on the original spec when it left the factory - no idea why as its mostly software and only a few options require additional hardware.

3) If the above is possible, are all incontrol apps available regardless of MY

InControl Apps is a paid for option and cannot be added post purchase - LR rules I'm afraid. If you have InControl Apps then yes, all compatible apps would be useable on the touch screen and a list is available in the phone app you install to connect to the car.

and 4) if the above is ALL possible, has anyone used the RTI version of Sygic and is it any good.

You need InControl Apps to use Sygic via the touch screen. I have tested it and found it not particularly good or as easy to use as other phone Nav apps. I also think its very expensive compared to other apps (the current off is good though). I didn't find the traffic to be particularly accurate to be honest. Personal tastes though of course but I use TomTom Go on my iPhone 7+ and sometimes Waze. Would like to see both on the touch screen but its not the end of the world that they don't. TBH, the whole InControl Apps thing is pretty poor with very few vaguely useful or interesting apps that are compatible.

5) on a separate app - will Spotify show on the head unit (if incontrol is enabled).

Again, you need InControl Apps to use Spotify on the touch screen and I believe the compatible phone app is only available on iPhone currently.

Basically yes. But dont get too excited about InContro Apps :D

Have you looked at aftermarket units that are Android Auto and CarPlay compatible? LR use hardware from Bosch that is compatible but they don't enable use of either system, only their own InControl. I think the New RR Velar will use Android Auto (assume CarPlay too) as I've seen photos of the touch screen showing the Android Auto button.

There are quite a few around now and this would give you Google Maps on a big screen.
