I have been running diesel DS's since 2015 and imagined I knew all about Regeneration events, pretty unspectacular as far as I was aware, until my current car (2020 150 Diesel) did the Regeneration on Thursday of last week. The pungent smell was so overpowering I called out LR Assist when I arrived home and I had a good response time from them. I explained what I had witnessed and the fact that I had never experienced such a thing in my previous 6 years of DS ownership. He was quite confident that it was in fact a regeneration and said " You've only done 7600 miles, it might be the first one".
The technician volunteered to take car for a run and force a further Regen. and I agreed that it made sense to do so.
So here I am, almost a week later and I can still detect a slight oily carbon burning residue smell as I approach the car, not a big deal!!
Now question is: has anyone else had anything remotely similar happen? What about the comment of possible first Regen event, any views?
I'm definitely not fitting an air freshener!!!
