In my opinion, having two different fillers right next to each other means inevitaby that ;- "SOMEDAY SOMEONE," will put the right stuff in the wrong hole.
You fill with fuel once every 350 miles approx, but D.E.F. may be 5,000 miles or 4 months, far better to be left where it is now.
I would n"t have imagined anyone breaking the D.E.F. filler cap by just removing it, but they have!

At the rate AdBlue consumption is going up with every MY of DS, I think you'll soon be filling up with AdBlue every time you fill it up with diesel!

That would actually be a good idea. Then you could have two progned diesel pumps that had an adblue nozzle that would only fit adblue and not petrol/diesel filler necks, and only activate the pump if it was correctly engaged... mis-fueling gone

And you can only get diesel if you care about not killing children and have an adblue EU65 capable car fitted with said mechanism.

or of course , put some more effort and science in, to make the use of D.E.F. unneeded, and more particularly all vehicles even more fuel efficient.
Remember when we were all being encouraged to buy small economical cars by low road fund rates etc. That has been stopped as the drop in revenue from less fuel sales was not in any governments plans, (or company profits) and with the past rise in diesel vehicle sales that had to be reversed somehow as well. Hence the current demonising of diesel which is in reality an attempt to switch us all back to petrol, which of course means we buy more fuel per mileage and therefore pay more in duties than we do at present.
Its not about saving the planet or indeed the children, Its about revenue , profit, and politics.!

And as for electric cars, where does everyone think the electricity comes from I wonder! Is it MAGIC.

Elastictrickery can be produced by a drilling method called fracking but we arnt allowed to do that,

wind power is good when windy, same thing for solar

Either way a good proportion of the power is lost simply transmitting the trickery from power station to car charger, even more is lost in battery efficiency levels.

So for the time being fossil fuels are the key. better energy efficiencies could be produced by wondering why so many people need to travel cross country so often and rescheduling things where possible.

And of course fracking up the planet does not actually "produce" electricity, just another form of fossil fuel which again needs to be transported to the refinery , using yet more fuel and clogging up local roads and ruining peoples lives. Unless we are planning to tear up even more of the planet with pipe lines. The ridiculous Fracking Idea should be buried once and for all.

Sorry for now being well "off Topic" ie DEF Cap.

Fracking is, by definition, very buried

Fracking if done correctly is a bonus , we need energy , it must be well controlled otherwise the dangers out do the benefits, as for piping shale gas all over the country surely just use it on site to produce electricity.

discounting fracking completely is not sensible.

Im presently looking at ground source heat pumps. potentially converting 1 kw of electricity into 4kw of heat energy.

And then using 1 kw of the 4 kw produced, to power a second heat pump would be the perfect solution, repeated indefinitely!!!

Remaining off topic, ! Yes , ground drilled heat pumps do no permanant damage, and should be encouraged. My school science days say that the whole of the earths centre is molten lava as confirmed regularly via eruptions, we are sitting on almost limitless energy reserves, we simply need to make use of the obvious and not continue to be conned by the "Profit Takers"

That's a lot of chickens you have to keep warm up there these days! 😮

Drill deeper, not horizontally, its well known that if you go down enough you reach warm earth as evidenced by the increase in temperature by cavers all over the world, if we can drill vertically bore holes for wells we can surely bore for heat.

Have had exactly the same problem every time. Have now discovered that slowly pouring a stream of hot water from a kettle (suggest not boiling!) over the cap works a treat. I guess it either melts the crystallised Adblue or expands the plastic cap, either way it worked perfectly.

Try some hot, not boiling water over the cap. Melts the crystals, different expansion rates, etc.
