Running in?

Post by Koevoet » Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:02 pm

Hi All,

Picked up the car yesterday, love it so far. Is the process of "running in" history? or is there a rev range i should try and keep within for 500 - 1k miles?

Yes it’s in the manual , no heavy breaking , no sudden acceleration and don’t let the engine labour, don’t stamp on the breaks.
Drive like miss daisy asically

Can remember the mileage but it’s in the book and on line manual, use the online manual and you can search easier .

Think it’s 2k Kilometers for the bigger Disco, suspect it would be similar.

I was going to rely with just “RTFM” but thought it a bit rude 😷

Happy reading , with the caveat not everything in the manual is true .

Running in the tyres for a couple of hundred miles is part of the process. As above, avoid harsh braking, accel and cornering to allow them to bed in. Should improve tyre life. Remember to do it when buying a new set of tyres as well!

In the context of the DS RTFM normally means "Return to F***ing Manufacturer" - usually at the end of the running in process
