Towbar fitted DIY for less than £200

Post by Comeinhandy » Mon Jan 22, 2018 8:48 am

I’ve just fitted a fixed towbar to my Disco Sport. It’s a bit of a labourous job, but achievable. Got one from eBay at a reasonable price. Anyone with a ‘can do’ attitude could do it. I made a video, hopefully this helps someone and is allowed to be posted:

Ive had a look at the video. Well done, first class, I think I'd have uttered some Anglo Saxon adjectives at various points, but you remained clam. I'd still let the dealership do it tbh, but that's a personal choice rather than anything else.

An excellent video Comeinhandy. It’s certainly miles better than most of the assembly and/or fitting instructions that are supplied with most products these days. Well done.

Thanks for the kind comments. This was the first time I had done this job, so with a have a go attitude I reckon most people could do this themselves.

Thanks. Actually there were a couple of those moments but I edited those out!

Nice job and good choice of supplier. For the wheel-well version (maybe 7 seats as well?) the Tow Trust removeable part number is TLAN6VK - Pictures of it as delivered, and after fitting.

Thanks. The car in the video was a 7 seater by the way.
