Missing USB port

Post by ksu499 » Sat Jul 13, 2019 9:45 pm

The vehicle is a 2019 DS HSE. On page 96 of the owner's manual it shows "5V USB socket located on the passenger side dashboard." I can't find it. Can someone please check their DS and tell me that you have that USB port, and where it is? A photo would be great. Otherwise the only USB port in the front is the one in the cubby.

Thanks.

As mentioned above, it has to be specified at point of order same as the USB's on back of armrest for rear passengers.

Interesting. I was never offered the opportunity to add a USB port to the passenger side of the dashboard, but I do have 2 USB ports and one 12V port on the back of the center console for use by back row passengers (it's a 5 seat). I wonder if upgrading to the satellite/digital radio had some impact to the ability to have that front USB port.

Not sure for US spec, in UK it’s a £60 (or thereabouts) option available to all and not linked to anything else.

I guess it may have not been on the configurator if you used that (things have a habit of disappearing) or maybe LR USA decided not to offer it (but then again, if it’s in the manual?)

I was curious about this, as I don't have one on my recently acquired 2019 MY. I found a reference in the on-line handbook -

USB sockets located in the loadspace on vehicles with third row seats.
NOTES
The passenger side USB socket is not fitted if the vehicle has the third row seat Air Conditioning (A/C) control.

It's not really clear what they mean by the loadspace, but I have the third row a/c referred to, and definitely have a USB socket on the passenger side at the rear (location 5 on the diagram) - but none in location 1.

There are two position 5’s, one each side of the car. Presumably one is missing with third row A/C. Position 1 is an option, you could check on Topix if you didn’t spec the car.

That's interesting - thanks. I think I've figured it out. I didn't specify the front passenger USB - in fact, I don't remember it being offered as an option, even though I have the second and third row stuff (the non-UK specs are a lottery - it's almost impossible to find out what a particular model includes). I'm not bothered about it, as there's USB in the armrest, and I have found that, if all I want is 5v power for a phone, it's best to use a USB adapter in the 12v socket - otherwise it tries to set up all sorts of clever stuff which I don't want.

What seems to be the case is that even the UK on-line manual the details and diagram are for left hand drive (why, for a UK car, I cannot imagine). It seems that the row 3 A/C control is probably always on the right hand side, that being the passenger's side in LHD, but driver's in RHD. That control is where the second (item 5) USB would be located - hence the reference to the passenger side - it means 3rd row, not front. Very unclear!
