Cracked rear side glass

Post by nino » Thu Jul 11, 2019 8:11 pm

Just discovered this long crack along the top of the glass. Anyone else has something similar?

No sign of impact so going to chance my arm for a warranty claim!

Dealers seem to differ over a warranty claim for this. Some claim it’s due to impact damage despite there being no mark to suggest this, others recognise it’s a warranty issue and replace it.

Might be worth swinging last the likes of autoglass , they will say whether a stress fracture or if it’s been hit.
At least then you have. A professional report from glass company to argue your case with.

Hi nino...

I'd be curious to know if the car has had the B-Pillar problem and if so did it go in for repairs.. if it did, it could be a flow-on effect from the "new stresses" put onto the pillar and roof of the car during that repair procedure. Worth checking it out with the appropriate Tech Bulletins as they detail all the "damage that is done" during these repairs.

If the car hasn't had this work done, I'd also follow it up with a specialist glass repair/replacement company (the bigger the better) as Barnsh has suggested.

Good luck with your claim.
