Yes, I heard about this. Apparently, some drippy Guardian-reading lefty tosser that worships diversity, inclusivity and all other mantras that blight this country took offence and reported him to HR. Who also reacted in the same way, had a sense of humour bypass (like so many these days) and suspended him on the spot.

Sad when political correctness rides roughshod over everything, if they got a sense of perspective back, they would see that it was nothing more (like the vehicles rolling off the line) a joke and shop floor banter. We are becoming more Stalinist by the day in the UK

Sorry, but wearing what looks like a bomb vest is just a plain stupid (un-funny) thing to do. Nothing to do with politics or reading a newspaper !

It's called shop floor banter. We used to have a sense of humour once.....

But then again, I'm one of those 70's dinasours that remember the workplace when it was fun and we used to enjoy our job, as opposed to the sterile, boring, PC culture that the poor sods working there now have to endure.

Having being concerned about such vests at a large public gathering full of children just yesterday ,I can see that sometimes banter is not banter.
Having a laugh at work is one thing, posting it on social media - irresponsible. Especially with a JLR logo on clear display. employers have no choice but to act on that one.

Irresponsible? - yes.
Bad taste? - yes.

Persecution, suspension and ultimately, summary dismissal? Hardly! Again, proof positive that British management (which has always been shocking at best) has fallen to almost communist levels of PC doctrine.

I wonder, would he have been put through the mill like this had he posed as a member of the security services wearing a stab vest?

Of course he wouldn't.....

A stab vest is something completely different to a mock suicide vest I think

Banter is one thing (and relieves the tedium of the day I agree) but this is stupidity.

If he walked down a busy high street or god forbid into a school wearing that as 'banter' he'd have the armed police on him like a shot.

1 )Why is it any different? I think that you might be missing the point....

2) But he didn't, did he?

So who over-reacted? Just a thought......😏

This looks as if it could rumble on for quite a while, so I’ve had an idea; maybe someone could set up a poll, along the lines of:

Who thinks mock suicide vests are funny:
a. In the workplace?
b. Anywhere?

Any takers?
