Thanks - I presume all of Guy Salmonds have a Black Friday event? It’s just I got my last D5 from their Stockport branch and told them to let me know when an event was coming up for SWMBOs car and guess what.

I assume so, the email I got is splattered with GS Stratford but I can't imagine it'd be just one branch.

The offer is dependant on model and spec: Discovery Sport (£4,500), Discovery (£3,000–£4,250), Range Rover Evoque (£3,850-£5,500) and Range Rover Velar (£1,000-£5,515).

I assume it's a fixed £4,500 off any DS as there's no range of discount. The girl on the phone trying to put a deal together is vague about where the discounts coming from, it may be split between GS and LR. She doesn't seem to realise I've had the email plus the LR configurator offers £2,500 off an HSE anyway.

It's on the GS Stockport website, but interestingly the DS discount is 'up to' £3,500, not £4,500 as per their email. Same on the Stratford GS site, I wondered for a second if we got more discount around here, by way of an apology with having to cope with all the JLR employees clogging up the roads!

Perhaps GS Stockport can't face another minutely detailed handover inspection? ;)

Ha, ha, very good.

SWMBO is interested. She has a trade in. I did suggest I could drive her car down, she could fly, then I could fly back and she’d be refreshed to drive home. Maybe Ive over complicated things.

Getting very close to pulling the trigger on a DS P240 HSE in Indus. However, the dealer sold their demo and as I've never driven one it's making me a bit nervous but folk on here seem pleased with theirs.

Other half keeps adding to the spec (Cold Climate pack, front USB) and doesn't like Indus ("I need to see one"), except I don't really fancy any other colour with the black pack except white or black, and I've done black...

I’ve driven a P240. You’d never know the difference externally or under the bonnet, but it does pull like a train tbh.

Indus looks great with the black pack, I know I'm biased, but it's nicer than normal silver.

It does look good - I like the liquid mercury / unpainted metal effect it seems to have. Thanks for the picture, will show it to the other half to re-assure her...

Well, I guess it should be in a 'What did you do yesterday' thread but...

Ordered the P240 HSE in Indus yesterday, and this morning I have been trying to see through the smoke and mirrors of the dealer invoice, but it looks like It's a 11% discount on the list price. I think got a good deal as when I threw in the 'what about the £625 service plan' they cried enough at another £500 off, but I guess you can never be sure!

The dealer has a diesel engined car in the LR build queue which is due for spec lockdown today, so the Jan build date may move either way with the change to petrol.

Meanwhile my DS was in for AdBlue top up (got it down to about 50 miles before no engine start!), rusty rear disc replacement, underfloor shield replacement and luggage cover handle replacement under warranty.

Sales got me a Velar P250 loaner to try with the petrol engine, went for a spin in the North Cotswolds for about 50 miles, got 27 mpg (on the computer)..... But I reckon with cheaper petrol cost the petrol DS will only cost me a few hundred pounds per year extra against the 32mpg the diesel DS is doing (tank to tank) with all the SCRF regens. As has been pointed out before a few mpg one way or another pales into insignificance against the cost of the car.

Then I get the call last night that the DS has the AdBlue quality warning and they need to drain the tank and fix it, so I have Velar for a bit longer....
