Xenon headlights

Post by EYR » Sat Dec 01, 2018 11:20 am

I have Xenon headlights and have a couple of questions:
1) Are they shutter controlled for main and dipped or seperate.
2) Could someone tell me the lamp spec/socket as the manual only tells you the Halogen information.

I don't have a problem but would be handy to know if ever needed replacing. The FL2 just needed the headlamp removal for this job, and the DS manual is telling me its a dealer job, is that correct?

Thanks

Not sure to your first point. On a D4 I had it was shutter.

Access to the light is limited, but I seem to remember, could be totally wrong, someone getting to the bulb with their hands, but it wasn’t easy.

The bulb on my DS is an HB3. The headlights don't come out but slide forward a few inches to allow access to the bulbs, its a tight fit!

I changed my bulbs to Osram Nightbreakers

Osram Nightbreakers are halogen not xenon.

They always say dealer fit for xenon due to the high voltage etc

My Nightbreakers are Xenon, Try going to Powerbulbs.com

Error in my original post, bulbs are a DS3 fitting not HB3.

My mistake, but on seeing the prices I don't think I'll bother.

To be honest, I never noticed much difference?

Thanks, a bit more looking and it seems full and dip are separate bulbs with a D3S socket.
