DS was cruise controlled at 80km/H , suddenly a car ( with 4 teenagers in it) pull out from a side road without giving way, my wife had no time to react or brake, DS T-Boned into this car. Wife came out of car with just a few airbag bruises. All 4 teenagers were able to get out of their car. As you can imagine if there was no AEB the cars and passengers would have suffered much more damage ( possibly with casualties) . Even the paramedic came to the scene did not believe the car was travelling at 80km/H. The lesson learned: AEB ( high speed) saves lifes, Thank you JLR.
Most importantly none of you were injured and it's certainly of interest to all members on hear who have doubted the effectiveness of the AEB on the DS.

Yep the standard AEB is reduce impact at that speed , the forward collision with active cruise control is an Avoid.
Interestingly on NCAP , Volvo and Mercedes is some of the few that gets "avoid" in most higher speed instigations.
One of the details below the standard 5 star ratings , I remember we discussed this at length in the blow up crocodile thread. ( Forward collision avoidance ) is not standard fit with JLR and it should have been.
Agree! 2014 Merc c-class only scores 1.8 pts in AEB interurban test which is lower than DS and late model XC60. GLC scores 2 pts which is still lower than DS 2.5pts
You need to click on the main figures to get the detail of each main number
I.e where DS gets 82 and GLC gets 71 , look at the make up of those .
The headline figures are just a guide m the detail is more informative.
For me such comparisons are not particularly relevant when choosing a vehicle. A lot of other factors come first and then, if all else was equal I'd consider these results.

talking from my single case experience a 2.5 pt (as in DS) in AEB interurban test means the likelihood of getting a severe injury at 80km/h may be reduced within a similar context of AEB operation.
From this point forward I may tend to buy my next car with such feature.
But you are right lot of other factors come first.
(I drive a 2017 C-Class everyday and feel safe in it)

I always look at safety first then narrow down my choice .
Having watched the M42 pile up and massive fire where I stopped 50 yards short of it , my view on poor safety results changed.
Then again afte that I swore I'd never buy a petrol again, but I just have. :roll:
Little things in life , including cardboard boxes and crocodiles do change your outlook :lol:
