Mpg in Petrol 240’s

Post by Porjbass » Mon Mar 19, 2018 7:46 pm

Hi everyone,

I am about to visit the dealer and thinking of a HSE lux in Byron with the grey wheels. But still debating Petrol /Diesel.
For those that have the 240 petrol could you give me a rough idea of the mpg that you are getting. Dealer said on the phone I could expect 31mpg, but with the weight of the car I’m not sure if that’s correct.
My driving is mainly open A roads and motorways
Thanks

My wife mainly does the school run with her 240bp petrol (MY18). To give you an idea today she did 5 journeys:

1. Av speed 22mph, 6.8m, 21.2mpg
2. Av speed 20mph, 4.8m, 29.2mpg
3. Av speed 26mph, 8.6m, 27.8mpg
4. Av speed 23mph, 6.8m, 22.3mpg
5. Av speed 21mph, 8.3m, 24.3mpg

These figs are fairly typical. Last week she did a 27 mile journey, av speed 39mph and averaged 31.5mph. For journeys like this she gets similar mpg.

Thanks Nickyg that looks promising and near the mark that the dealer quoted over the phone. Maybe the colour helps .......just what i was thinking of. How many miles on the odometer? Has the engine loosened up?

That’s great and I should think that the MPG will improve further as the miles go on.
also very positive for my prospective purchase,

Thanks

Mine is about the same MPG with just 1000 miles on the clock.

Drives well too, but being rejected because they can't fix the software causing the rear camera to not come on in reverse gear.Shame that...

Two full years of ownership here and my 2016 does approx 11.0 l/100km in summer and 13 l/100km in winter. I'll let do the maths!

Keep in mind that here in Canada temperature often reach minus 15-20'C in winter.

I do about half and half city and highway drives. And no, it didn't improve over time.

I hope that is not the info from the dash????? Our car is 14% optimistic when displaying the economy, but few owners of any cars actually do math anymore LOL Actual average is 12.8 L/100 km, heavy vehicle to get moving

But maybe the new engine will do better.

Fpace 25t which has a 247 bhp petrol ( same engine) gets 30mpg on long runs ( average speed 52mph) , mind you it has a far lighter body compared to the DS.

Measured not dash reading.
