The so called software update will have been the outstanding campaigns N025 & N118 which are still showing as such on topix however I get the impression dealers aren't always particularly slick at updating that..at least thats the impression I felt he was trying to make me believe.

But those updates do nothing for the oil dilution , or the fact an oil service is required , they just
A) show a message on cranking the engine
B) allow the oil counter to be reset separately from the service counter.

Very true but if I hadn't forced his hand by waving JLRP00100 under his nose and asking for a dilution %age how much would you be prepared to bet that he wouldn't have changed my oil and filter and followed it up by saying "he'd installed the update and as you can see, your car no longer shows it needs a service" even though it would be grinding itself to bits with a sump full of slurry?

It's time that JLR stepped in and sorted out their rogue dealers who are happy just to bullshine Joe public knowing that there actions have the potential to damage engines in the future.

JLR's actions, or lack of action in sorting out their dealers can only be regarded as being one of condoning their dealers' approach to customers

For anyone monitoring the gross statistics, the average mileage achieved has dropped by a further 200 miles to 10,200. Drivers who have recorded "estimated" distance to first service are kindly requested to apply the suggested correction formula (see above) and to keep revising their mileage as it changes. Until now the evidence has been that Service Mileage falls up to 3 times faster than real miles driven. If any form of meaningful fix is being applied, we should see it reflected in these figures in the absence of a formal announcement from JLR - not a likely thing to happen for a fault which is not even officially acknowledged.

True Tery, is shocking how different dealers are putting a different spin in what is required.
As least your all sorted for a while.
