I took it in for service and asked for this problem to be sorted, even showed them the Service Bulletin document. Collected the car and was assured work had been done, and after the first rain I had water pouring out the same as before!!!

Booked it in again, but have to wait 6 weeks!

Is there any visual difference after the modification? Can I actually see anything different to tell me the work has been done? Any pictures from anybody showing the drain holes (if they are visible).

Only the drain hole on the bottom rubber flap is visible unless you take the pinch strip off, which isn't actually that difficult if you wanted to check they've done it properly.

Thanks, I definitely have no visible holes drilled anywhere.

Water exiting the tailgate on opening has got progressively worse and is now like a tap being turned on. I spoke to Rybrook two days ago and the mechanic said JLR know about it but don't have a fix yet. It's clear from these posts that JLR have known about the problem since as early as August 2015. If they knew in 2015 then their dealerships should have known about the problem. It appears that dealers continued selling cars with inherent known defects. I'm not impressed. Has anyone got more recent experience of this problem?

Correct Roadie, JLR have been knowingly ignoring a whole host of problems in order to be able to concentrate on the introduction of new models. A not uncommon practice but still not correct.

Mine too Simon. A bit like the modifications they made to the B pillar after smacking the bottom of the welding at wasn't behaving properly. ;)

I've now just joined this club. Just been in for a non related DPF fault and the night after i picked it up i noticed the rear parcel shelf had a big stain on it.
Another trip back to the dealer. 7th this year for various issues.

No chance i'll be buying another DS!!!!!!!

I had it on the DS’s I owned, you eventually learnt to steer clear when opening the boot. Thankfully those days are past and the D5 doesn’t suffer the same problem.
