Update from my dealer today, delivery now expected beginning of October, rather than late August. Order was placed early April.

Can I say that you guys have the patience of saints. An 8 month wait for a new car would have me climbing the walls. I tend to buy them 12 months old and more than a two week wait would have me walking out and onto the next dealership. Is it common to have to wait? Or if you walk into a Skoda dealership for example are they sitting in a compound waiting to be called off?
2018 DS HSE 240D
2016 DS HSE auto, for 45k nice (grey!) car.
2014 Ewok for 6 months, really really rubbish.
2008 FL2 for 185k miles, should have kept her.
2006 FL1 for 110k miles, brilliant car.
2000 FL1 for 100k miles, fell apart but started the LR bug

From experience on here, it's usually around a 6 week wait from memory, perhaps a little bit longer if sales are good and you don't get an earlier build slot the dealer has in the build queue. I guess what we're seeing here is the chip shortage issue, plus the PHEVs seem to be delayed longer - maybe more chips in a PHEV!

Good second-hand cars are becoming rarer and as a result used DS prices are climbing.

For information , update from Dealer today with screenshot of LR VISTA 2. Ordered 18th March with projected delivery early June, as an SE with options. ( particularly wanted it to stay as a MY21 as I don’t want privacy glass ) . Build date now 20th August ! and Delivery 3rd Sept! , system says “Specification locked at Market - Full Spec, and it’s listed as a MY21.
Probably means I won’t be able to take advantage of the increase in value of my existing DS, valuations at both Motorway and WBAC have increased from around 20k to over 21k in last few months but have just started to slip back a little. Car has a Towbar fitted which apparently makes it an ideal tow car for those people buying caravans for a “Staycation”

Andy, I completely agree, it’s what I always try to do! BUT UNFORTUNATELY try getting a 6 month old DS with light grey leather and Towbar, but without privacy glass or black wheels. Believe me it’s impossible. In fact I checked on Autotrader a few weeks ago and apparently of the 60 cars it listed only 4 had the light grey leather and all of those had privacy glass and black wheels. You can certainly get a standard DS but not the one I want and I am spending over 40k. Anyway, they say Patience is a virtue!

According to the wife patience is a virtue seldom found in women never found in men. I compromised rather than wait. So I had to rip out the third row seats to fit a skinny spare. Got used to the privacy glass eventually. Dealership wrapped the roof black. Still looking to upgrade from 20” to 18” wheels. Got toys that I didn’t know that I wanted, and some that I have found out about since that would have been nice. Spent £44k on a second hand DS that I am over the moon with

Wow Andy, that shows real commitment. I suspect we’re both big fans of the DS. Enjoy your car and I’ll try to enjoy the long wait.

Did anyone else that has an order in get a letter from LR today explaining that there is a long delay due to the semiconductor shortage?

I knew there was a delay but it was a depressing letter none the less.

Any more details? I put a P300e order in a couple of weeks ago and have been given a delivery estimation of the start of October.
On order; P300e HSE R-Dynamic, Portofino Blue.
