Having had 2x Freelander2 and now in my second DS (240,000 miles in total and rising) I’ve not had any after effects of very occasional use

FL2 sand mode, 2000rpm & foot on brake. Plant accelerator on floor and simultaneously release brake as the lights change to green. Every day sometimes several times a day for 180,000 miles. Original haldex and rear diff were fine. PTU failed due to splines corrosion.
