Delays in deliveries - October 2020

I ordered a p300e (PHEV) in spring of this year. I was initially told they'd start making them August, for a late August delivery. Then I was told in late September that my vehicle had been made, and delivery expected on or before 2nd October. That shifted to 9th October a week later. Today I've been told it's back to 16th October and received the following ...

'We have had contact from Land Rover suggesting all PHEV models are delayed slightly – even once complete. We have asked for further clarity on this.'

What is going on? I'm told my car was built over two weeks ago and I live an hour's drive from the factory. (The franchise is a similar distance.) Why would it take four week's to deliver a vehicle?

Is this normal? Should I be worried? Have they discovered a fault?

I’d be pushing the dealer for exactly why in your shoes.
There is no excuse if complete , unless of course a delivery backlog in these covid times.

Either way they need to be up front and open.

Agreed. I've emailed them and await a response. For the interest of others, I'll post on here how they respond.

You could try phoning here and see if you get more info with your order number .

Thanks. I've phoned them. A very pleasant lady said that it's a puzzle and she would immediately phone both Head Office & my dealership to look into it. She said she's be back in touch later today or tomorrow morning. So, thanks for that suggestion.

I would imagine, if it's been on built there's a component missing (but they elected to build anyway and hold), that needs swapping out or a software update is needed.

On several occasions over the years I've heard of people going up to factory compounds in minibuses and going from car to car flashing new software into 'our' sub assemblies once the software team have developed and released the code.

It's strange there's still no 'real' YouTube reviews for DS or Evoque PHEV?
I'm reading about delayed P300e orders on the Evoque Owners forum.

Normally a long time before customers get their cars YouTube reviewers are given them!
The only content is mashed up advertising videos, nothing real?

Yes, I had noticed that and was puzzled by it. It also seems a bit of a surprise that even now there are no demo cars in local franchises; you'd think the first few vehicles would be rushed to franchisees and reputable motoring journalists. That would seem like the most basic bit of marketing.

There will be more people who either want to test drive or read a review before ordering, than people like me who simply ordered it on the basis of the specification. (I'm not totally mad as it will be my third new Disco Sport - I assumed the addition of the PHEV-kit won't fundamentally alter the car's driving behaviour.)

Same here Simon, have they even built a production PHEV yet? I personally doubt it, reason being my dealer hasn’t been able to place the order with LR yet! (They told me on the 23/9 that 21MY orders were still not being accepted). As VDS recently posted the WTLP figures are only estimates, this is not what you would expect of model that is supposed to be production ready? With no press reviews etc should I be getting cold feet at the lack of transparency from LR?

The lack of complete and accurate WLTP data would certainly hold them up as they can’t be registered.
Interesting times .
