Re: Recall to fix CO2 emissions - whats the fix?

Jaguar Land Rover, which makes its diesel engines at the i54 site in Wolverhampton, has said it doesn't cheat on emissions tests as Germany's Volkswagen admitted that 11 million vehicles worldwide are fitted with software to falsify test results. The German car-maker is facing deepening scrutiny after being forced to admit it cheated on the tests for nearly 500,000 vehicles.

But JLR has moved rapidly to distance itself from the scandal, saying it does not use the software and that all its cars fully comply with US and EU emissions regulations. A JLR spokeswoman said: "Jaguar Land Rover does not use any emissions 'defeat' software. "Our latest cars are the cleanest ever and customers who buy vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover can be confident that they will be fully compliant with all EU and US emissions regulations; that they will adopt the latest technology to control emissions and they will be helping improve air quality and meet CO2 and emission targets."

Well that's all right then.

What a c*** up. I’m just glad that we got rid of our Evoque since it seems it’s also affected.

I’m at a loss to understand how JLR can say that the recall of 44000 vehicles will not have a material impact on finances.

I really don't worry, its not just JLR, I personally think its a storm in a tea cup. Nearly every manufacturer suffers from recalls of some type so it really is not an issue... lets move on.

My only concern would be if they tinker with the engine there will be what JLR are calling a “change to the driver experience”.
Remember the VW experience where by they had loss of power reported in many cases and EGR problems followed.

I suppose we’ll have to wait and see the outcome of the “fix”

Maybe I’m not understanding something but the link to Which that Mikeec posted certainly mentions both 2 liter Diesel and petrol engines albeit not for the DS.

In this age of Daily Cut 'n' Paste journalism you have to get the original source documents for yourself if you want to know what's really going on.

The truth as published by the EU is that it's ONLY 2.0L diesels.

Re: Recall to fix CO2 emissions - No Petrols?

Post by PhilMabbots17 » Thu Mar 14, 2019 7:15 pm

Sorry, to confuse this again, but on second inspection the Which table quoting JLR is different to the text of the EU Alerts. Nowhere in the EU documents does it mention Petrol. Any ideas?
