Another newbie in Lancashire!

Post by C8RTO » Sun Jan 06, 2019 7:08 pm

Just wanted to say hi!

Collected my ‘16 plate fuji white se tech just before Christmas and loving it so far.

This is my 3rd Land Rover. Traded in my ‘09 FL2 which had served me well for 3 years and before that had a D3 for 3 years.

Supplying dealer was Inchcape at Preston, the salesman Scott Wilson was a star!

Only niggle so far is that a couple of days after having the car the service indicator lit up saying service due in 1700 miles! I was not happy!!
It’s got 32500 miles on it and was last serviced at 21400 miles in Sept ‘17. Sounds like I need an interim service

Waiting on a call back from the after sales Manager :|

Given it is reasonably close to the next service interval would it not be reasonable to expect this to have been done as part of the sale? Hope you get it sorted without having to pay out already. Glad you’re enjoying your new car though

Echoed, they should have serviced it before it was handed over. As has been mentioned before, the 164 point inspection isn't worth the paper that it's written on if they have overlooked something like that!

I wouldn’t say it was reasonably close to the next service (at 42K), it’s only half way there. I would however expect them to plug it into the diagnostics and see that an oil service is imminent, and change the oil. But I guess that’s not part of the resale routine (yet) with these cars and their problem.

I guess it needs to be a 165 point inspection!

Chances are they'd just reset the counter and pretend that it had had an oil change. Unscrupulous B'stards that we all know that they all seemingly are...

Yes, the car should’ve been serviced before delivery and that’s what I’ll be expecting, free of charge.

David Greaves, after sales manager at Inchcape Preston has been in touch.
He’s unsure why this wasn’t picked up on the pre sale inspection which was carried out on 18/12/2018 and wants the car back in next week so he can check the condition of the oil. He told me all about oil dilution so seems well aware of this issue.

I’ll let you know how I get on.
