20" Wheels (HELP)

Post by Leoniums » Sun Jul 29, 2018 9:45 am

Hello
I purchased a set of 20" discovery 5 wheels.
A friend of mine and some other posts around the net were saying that those can fit into our DS.
I send the payment and while I am arranging transportation I saw that those wheels are using 255/55/20 tyres.
I was looking around and couldn't see anywhere that DS can use such a tyre.
Please tell me if those can be used to our DS or not....
I think I am foked up...

It's funny how people worry about the tyre size but don't even think about the rim itself. The tyres are the least of your worries, although yes, they are too big for the DS. But your main problem is that the rims themselves will not fit, as the D5 rims are wider, have a different offset, and a larger PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter - the size of an imaginary circle drawn through the centre of the wheel bolts).

I've said this on here before, and I'll say it again - Evoque wheels are the only ones directly compatible with the DS, or Freelander 2 ones if you use a spacer.

Did you not check with the dealer (as I suggested) before buying them ?

That’s good to hear about the refund Leo. Maybe your better just buying a D5 with its wheels attached 👍🏻

Wheels that are a direct figment to DS :-

Evoque
Freelander 2 (Although wrongs offset)
Range Rover Velar
Jaguar E-Pace
Jaguar F-Pace

All are 5 x 108 and have the same hub figment and circa ET45 offset.

As Mamil wrote, the FL2 wheels require a 5mm spacer to clear the DS suspension. I sold mine on and bought a cheap set of Evoque wheels - plenty of those about. Other Land Rover wheels WILL NOT fit.
Mav - thanks for the info re the Jaguar wheels. Means that if I buy one of those models I can carry my winter wheels across. One point though - the Jaguars are lighter cars, so I wonder if their wheels have the same loading capability as the DS ones.
