Spare wheel for 5 seater.

Post by TJH » Wed Sep 30, 2020 6:50 pm

Hi, just joined group so sorry if this has been discussed before.
Should be collecting a 2017 5 seat tomorrow. No spare in vehicle.
I was thinking to buy a second hand spare/jack/wheel brace as i have done for other brands i've owned.
Questions.
1. How critical is the tyre size/brand to drivetrain of DS. (Freelander is critical).
2. Are the Evoque wheels exactly the same - pcd and offset etc.?
3. Are evoque jacks the same?
4. Anybody resolved this situation themselves?
Many thanks for any advice.

1.Size (or rolling radius) would need to be the same, brand not so critical if it’s not same as those on the car, I.e. it’s a kind of space saver non-identical spare.
2.Yes
3. Yes
4. No, got a space saver underslung.

I believe people have added wheels. The 5 seater should have space under the boot floor so ideally you should try to find the full kit from a scrapper which will come with teh jack and the foam insert to keep it all non-rattly.
The 7 seater has the wheel underslung but it's the same wheel and of course the same jack so either would do.
Can't comment on the Evoque but I believe the wheel is the same and it's likely the same jack too.

Full size spare in the boot is standard on Australian 5 seaters, guess it's not in the UK?

I have both Evoque and DS jacks and as far as I can tell they are identical, although I believe it's a different part number, so there may be a slight difference. Evoque and DS wheels are identical, although of course the pattern is different. 18" are the most common second hand. Personally I would want the same diameter wheel as the other four, although all the wheel/tyre combinations have the same overall diameter. The skinny spare is one size fits all.

That's an interesting picture of a full size spare in the rear wheel well. I have a 7 seater and ripped out the rear seats to fit a space saver spare. It only just fits. I did try to buy the parts to do a proper job but our local dealer said they had had the same request in the past and the parts don't fit - different floor pan?

A piece of 19mm plywood sits on top of the wheel and the rubber boot protector hides the embarrassment.
Definitely not enough room for a full size spare, but the space saver has got me out as trouble.
