I have 245/45-20 on my DS I am looking for a spare to carry when I am towing and have been offered a 235/55-19, it will fit ok but it stands about 35mm taller is this going to cause problems with the transmission?
If you are using the correct spec tyres there will be no appreciable difference in circumference for different wheel sizes.
Without checking it looks like either your tyres or the spare are non-standard?
Both tyre sizes are the manufacturer sizes, they'll have almost identical rolling radius so won't affect the car. As long as the wheel is the correct DS or a Evoque type it'll be fine.
By my calculations the 19" wheel with that tyre will have a rolling diameter approximately 1/2" bigger than the 20" wheel with its low profile tyre.
