Vibration 1200 to 1500 rpm

Post by ktmaxxxxx » Sat May 26, 2018 3:27 pm

Hi any owner of Discovery sport 2017 ingenium diesel Experience slight vibration at 1200 to 1500 rpm ? Either during accelerating or cruising. It like having wrong (higher) gear. Once exceed 1500rpm it disappears.

Vibration

Post by Barnsh » Sat May 26, 2018 3:37 pm

Welcome to the forum

Post moved to new topic as it does not belong in the sluggish gear box topic where originally posted.

Try searching vibration too on the forum , there are many noted reasons. The search box on here is very good.

Note there is also a topix document for vibration at these specific rpm so best to see the dealer I guess.

Hi, long time since I’ve posted (slightly frustrated at the site) but came across this topic. I’ve had similar low level vibration noise for a few months. It was intermittent and located around the drivers door or dash area. It occurred at low revs or on some harsh tarmac surfaces. It was so slight that I nearly didn’t take it to the dealer.
Dealer has identified it as fuel lines , air conditioning pipes interacting ( rubbing together I assume) . It’s in next week for 2 days !!!! The sheet they gave me refers to LTB1040 and LTB1011 and it refers to 1500 to 2000 rpm. It may possibly be the same issue, hope that helps.
I hope they sort it, although as I say, it’s only a minor issue. Taking the DS to Switzerland in two weeks time. I find the DS superb on a long journey like this and it was great in the deep snow a few months ago.

Hi my humming vibration noise is persistence throughout 1200 - 1500. It appear n disappear in this range. Unfortunately my dealer concluded that it is normal for a Diesel engine. Cannot expect same refinement as petrol car. I being driving petrol car for 30 yrs and first time owning a diesel car are unconvinced but did not argue back. I here trying to gather experience of other owner have similar issue so I can get back to them.
Is not something unbearable just have to press paddle harder to avoid the range. Just being disappointed that my first land rover are having this standard.

Take another for a test drive.
If the dealer is confident they are all the same ,try a retest drive at another dealer, you will then know if this is true or not.

If you read my post from last week under steering wheel vibration it may just give you another possible cause, it has cured mine although it will never be eliminated completely due to the gearbox being active when a drive mode has been selected and only a very slight vibration when in parked or neutral.

I have had several fixes on numerous vibrations similar to this.... so far :
Fuel pipe through bulk head .... been in 6 times for various fixes, today picked the car up to be told last fixes had failed
Bracket on DPF failed so replaced DPF
Exhaust damper failed, replaced today
Not bad for 18 months old and 21k miles!

My dealer claimed they have visual check on body n software diagnose concluded is normal. It seem my vibration is not a common issue on DS as no one seems to have similar complain on the particular speed range.

If is isolated case why my dealer reject my claim. Maybe just to run away from the diagnostic cost.

Misalignment of engine mount on Paul41 sound logical to me. Now during early morning cold start the engine roaring is embarrassing. Believe from mounting. Coming my 34k servicing. Let see after oil change can smoothen the vibration.

Hi All
I have a vibration problem on my 2017 DS. As the revs go through 1400 to 1600 rpm whilst gears are changing and also whilst cruising at constant 60mph and 70mph. The only way to clear it especially at 70 is to increase speed above 75mph. It feels as if the box should change down especially when the road slopes upward, instead the droneing gets worse. The car has been in twice. First time they found a broken exhaust bracket, second time they replaced the DPF. The droneing persists. Has anyone else experienced this problem and had a result? I'm just glad I kept my Nissan x trail!

Mine is not as bad as some report here but I have noticed that the gearbox will occasionally allow the rpm to drop into this zone where the engine feels unhappy to "lug" and gets a bit rough. I don't really understand why it does this when at other times it holds a lower gear and keeps engine revs between 1500 and 2000. Maybe when speed has not varied for several minutes it adopts a cruising condition. Perhaps in the future we may get adaptive systems that tell the driver why they behave as they do, that would be a lot of fun, especially if you could argue with them! (Actually I sometimes shout at them anyway but don't get any reply. :? )
