Just joined this subject, so apologies if this question has already been asked......... I'm sure this engine and gearbox is also the same one used in Jaguar saloon cars? So the question is, are JLR experiencing the same service interval issues etc with their Jaguar products? If so there is far more data going to be available than just on the DS vehicles .........

Hi Moldy, the Ingenium engine as used in the Jaguar models doesn't experience the same problems due to the so-called architecture. If you look through the thread entitled "Service Interval" you'll find reference to this.

The Jags install the Ingenium longitudinally instead of transversely on the LRs. There is therefore room alongside the engine block to fit the emissions gubbins nearer the turbo outlet. In the LRs the gubbins won’t fit between the engine block and the cabin bulkhead, so are fitted under the car, further away down the exhaust (and hence colder).

Have just had my vehicle back from the dealers as the service interval was at 0 with 16900 miles on the vehicle. I used the vote button to indicate this.

However, the dealer has told me that is was an issue with the oil service indicator which they have corrected. No service was carried out.

Still no convinced it was a issue with the indicator, but they have reset the service interval to 19500. I will be interested to see how quickly it drops as I know they have not changed the oil!

It will drop at the normal rate for your 'driving style', the car assumes the oil has been changed as is starting again at 0% dilution. It doesn't measure the oil dilution, it's a calculation. You need to get back to them with JLRP00100 and wave it under their noses. They don't know what they're doing.

I'd go straight back with a copy of JLRP00100 and ask them why they didn't change your oil.
As -9 says , all they have done is ignored the oil dilution which can damage your engines longevity. The car was telling you it needs an oil change.

 July 2016, I think, when that line was first heard.

As expected their initial response was "yes, we did do a lot of oil and filter changes before but now we have a software update so its no needed" but when I said "ok, I'd also like to know the oil dilution %age" I ended up getting..."turns out your vehicle was within oil and filter change parameters as dilution was @ 6.8%"

But there is no software update according to topix.
And no software update mentioned in the JLRP00100.

If your light was on the car is saying in needs an oil change.

I certainly would not be happy if they are ignoring their own bulletin, which clearly states if the light is on it needs an oil change.it makes you wonder what thevlight is for
