Mike / anyone, as a newbie to JLR problems and having an affected DS, can you tell me how to get at their subsequent bulletins on this potentially serious problem... thanks David

The info is gleaned from logging into topix ( create a free account ) but to read any docs you need a subscription .https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topi ... 072fc41794

What I used to do is get a subscription for a day and download all the relevant ones I could find , then post them for all to see in the topix area on this forum.

As long as we don’t go OTT with sharing docs we’ve so far been ok and no copyright issues have ensued.

On 12/6/18 JLR issued an update for the incorrectly assembled oil pump issue.

It would seem there must be a real issue. The corrective action is the oil pump must be replaced on any car in the VIN range, provided it has not yet been passed to the new owner. Replacing the oil pump is a four hour job, so not cheap for JLR.

Currently, there is no action for any car's in the VIN range that have already been passed to the customer, though a subsequent bulletin could change that.

Version 3 of the service action is attached, along with the associated service instructions (which make it clear the oil pump must be replaced).

Looking at the parts list, inc the number of seals, this seems to involve an engine strip down too... highly likely never to be as sound or leak free again. Given oil leaking cars wont pass the new mot test, it looks as if I could soon have a basket case. What are my options? Can I demand a new engine, or as I only bought it in March, can I reject it now?

Seriously unimpressed with the lies JLR is telling its dealers to say to customers... about latest upgrades!

And only looking after their stock... absolutely not to be released before being repaired...

If they know this can lead to engine failure, when and how does mine go pop- in the fast lane of the motorway / in the middle of knowhere / on holiday!

Grateful for advice on how best to deal with this...

I should point out the bulletin indicates, a car needs to have its specific VIN number checked with JLR to determine if an individual cars is affected. So all cars in the VIN range are not affected by this serious issue.
