Of course they now what parts went where. Do you think they are going to post a list of names and addresses on this forum.
The questions related to the FACT dealers say the only way to tell is to dismantle the car .

They are saying it is too hard to get the data on who's car is affected .( which we all think is BS.)

That's what we think, they know how many are affected m so why not write to owners to get a replacement. .....oh that will be cost no doubt.

It's like the B pillar ticking. They'll never admit to anything because it would open the floodgates for customers demanding replacement/compensation or whatever.

Agree chippy,

But if an owner went to the dealer with the SMM and requested their vehicle to be checked for a "known , admitted and stated" JLR quality concern , re a known substandard part, the dealer is obliged to check it . They can't say no really.

So if having a better performing SCRF means less fuel dilution it may be worth asking for this to be carried out. Better done in warranty than out.

Correct always assuming that the customer is aware of the SSM. I could well imagine that most aren’t even aware that they exsist.

why would they want everyone to know, if a customer comes in with a faulty car they fix it. some of the 'faulty ' may last forever anyways so changing would be a sad waste of resources.
tough on those who do have failures but the spend has to be economic.

When I went round Halewood, every part was logged and scanned, the computers know exactly whats going where,
The computers automatically fine DHL if any parts arrive at the production line late. DHL have to contract to supply all parts to within hands reach of workers stations, not just to the factory gate, all forklift drivers on site are essentially dhl employees
That part of the plant is very impressive.

So a week out of warranty and you get a 1500 bill , that sounds good?

Certainly not good and I would not want to be on the receiving end of such a bill. But the manufacturer has to draw the line somewhere and without goodwill what is one supposed to do?

Clarification:- The SMM documents states IF and ONLY “IF a customer experiences a high volume of Amber DEF warning lights or the Red DEF warning light has been triggered.” then “check the data label on the SCRF ....”

So JLR have not admitted a general quality issue. They have only admitting there MIGHT be a quality issue for those limited number of cars that have experienced the Amber/Red light issue and then only if parts are from a particular batch.

Thus JLR are only committing to the cost of stripping down the exhaught systems in those minority of cases.

Some here might argue there is a general quality issue but the SMM document does not admit to that.
