Have I found the 'right' oil ?

Post by roadster » Sat Feb 17, 2018 9:07 am

I've been puzzled by the fact that no oil seemed to be readily available that was both 0W-30 and met ACEA C1 but this one claims that it does and isn't expensive:-

It doesn't seem to be approved by JLR but it does meet the correct Ford spec. which is given as an alternative in the handbook. I'm not going to take any chances with the known dilution issues so when the DS is one year old I'll be changing the oil even if there are only 5000 miles on the clock. So far this seems like the best oil to choose.

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5379&p=71305#p71305 Oh, happy days, just before I had the disco-ectomy. This oil conforms to STJLR.03.5003 and JLR will use it for the oil change if you ask nicely. They only stock the thinner Castrol Edge Pro though, so somebody will need to pop down to the nearest Peugeot-Citroen dealership to pick up 7 litres.
17MY DS150PS 6 speed manual. Gone. Not of satisfactory quality. Not as described.

To quote certain a certain Forum member in my "Terrible YouTube Video" you will see that I used a Patronas product: http://www.extranetpli.eu.petronas.com/ ... ec_ENG.pdf which meets the JLR spec. Clearly the Total one might be cheaper in UK?

Changed the oil again this weekend (10000km precautionary change) and two things struck me; the consistency of the used oil was like water and the smell was really eggy (sulphur). No doubt someone can explain this?
