Ok. As I said in the video I screwed it off by hand. If you are able, it would be good if you could add your info as a comment under the video?

If you are not prepared to have comments posted on this forum then you should NOT be promoting them here, and this applies also to the recent RE posting of the "Service reset video" or do you not wish the faults in that aired also.

Re: Changing Engine Oil
I think you have missed the point. I really don't care what anybody says about my video's, however, not all YouTube watchers are forum members so it's better to link the comments to the video where they are posted.
Grateful though if you think I've made a mistake in the service reset video to show them here and publicly. Last time I looked it worked perfectly for all cars, less as it now appears for software modified late MY 17 and MY 18 cars ( which of course wasn't the case when it was originally filmed last October).
As I said before, if you are such an expert, make and post your own video(s) and show us all how it's done.

Re: Changing Engine Oil
I'd like to add my thanks to BFGDSMan. Your video was easy to follow and gave me the confidence to do my own interim oil changes on our DS. (services will still be done by dealer at present). I had even referenced it in a post on another thread on this forum, so its great to virtualy thank the person responsible!
I've also used Petronas for the oil but used the OEM parts for filter and sump plug+washer.
Our DS is a MY16 so does not have any service counter displayed on the instrument cluster at all. Only a software update prompted the vehicle to display a service required in x miles notification when you start up (blink and you'd miss it though). We do have the multi fault amber exclamation in a triangle icon to play "guess the fault". Thankfully, it only comes one these days when i run out of screen wash

Re: Changing Engine Oil
BB,
Always great to receive feedback, glad it has empowered you to dive in and have a go (and save yourself some money)! Although I have changed the oil on my car, it is a bit ridiculous to have to scrabble under a £47k+ car every 6 months and do, still it keeps my neighbours amused...

Re: Changing Engine Oil
Yes, by Mercedes as it won't need doing by me in between the official figures...
As has been commented in other places on the forum, if LR had told me it was an 12 months/12000 mile oil change I would accept the 9000 to 10000 mile interval I got as down to my driving style. When they say 24 months/21000 miles I expect that to be what I need to do, and indeed what I was looking forward to after swapping from my original 2.2d car (12 months/15000 miles BUT THAT'S ANOTHER THREAD.....
