B Pillar Problem Solved

Post by Chippy » Thu Oct 12, 2017 7:16 am

After nearly two years we’ve at last solved our B pillar problem. At least we were quicker than LR :o

How some might ask. We rejected the second culprit and are now driving a rattle free Evoque.

I’m aware of the fact that there is still the oil dilution problem but not driving more than about 7000 miles a year we can easily live with it even though it’s not right.

Well done Chippy.
How old was your car when you rejected and did you have to battle with the dealer?

Hi Bolt, our second DS was just under five months old and had slightly over 4000 km on he clock. It was a bit of a struggle but fully supported by our dealer.

Thanks Barnsh. The first impressions are positive. Solidly built, higher quality interior parts, excellent workmanship on the leather seats, no rattles or the like, a nice driving position and last not least a height adjustment on the passenger seat belt for SWMBO!

Hi all, I got out as well... now have a new xc60 d4 inscription...

I can't believe that they actually make a car this good! So quiet it's as though the B-Pillars don't exist!

I have to say, I'm unhappy to leave the DS behind as it just could have been such a great car but let down by poor build and a reluctance to fix a known problem for just too long that impacted many. I expect it is a great vehicle for many, but for me twice burned was just too much.

Some may say I've moved to the dark side so be it. I expect that my 2nd DS will be subjected to the v6 fix ad then onsold maybe to someone with a hearing problem and they will love it like I couldn't.

As soon as I get some pics together of the xc I'll post em if I'm allowed.

Regards to all David

Glad your all sorted David, you had an horrendous struggle with them. It' really is an eye opener to see people having to reject two cars with this same issue , the chances of this happening twice to an owner does not bode well, as your not the only one to have to do this.

Feel free to post the new car in off topic it will be good to hear some owner comparisons of the car and about the automated safety systems if you have those.
Happy motoring !

Enjoy Chippy. Good to hear you got out of the rattler into a solidly built car.
