Mine has been checked today and dealer has now identified the B pillar creak and arranged to repair the problem. The car is 6 months and 2 weeks old. If the repair is not successful, I will need to consider the rejection option.
Barnish your post on 7th September suggest that there is no significant difference, in rejecting a car after 6 months compared to 1to 6 months if the problem was obviously present when built. Is my understanding correct?
Yes that's correct , before 6 months it's assumed to be there at build, after 6 month you have to prove it was there at build. Which is easy.

Barnish thanks for the advice. I hope the repair works but it is reassuring to know that rejection is an option if necessary in the future. By carrying out the repair they are acknowledging that there is a problem at 6 months and 2 weeks. So if the problem starts again next spring/ summer when the temperature increases, I should be able to demonstrate it was a build problem and hence eligible for rejection.

Yes the clock also stops ticking when you tell the dealer of the fault , not when he manages to fit your car in for repair. So if you told him befor 6 months that's the date to use.

I requested that they diagnose the creak when the car was 6 months and 4 days old so contacted them slightly after the 6 month point. However proving that the problem was there at build, should hopefully be relatively easy due to their repair procedure documents and making reference to other owners on the forum with similar problems. It is not the sort of problem that could be caused by how users drive the car.

Land Rover are fully aware that the problem is present at build, and symptoms can appear at anytime thereafter.
I don't think you should need much effort to tell them this.
I only hope the more money JLR have to shell out on repairs and replacements will wake them up this issue and force them to fix it at production.

I became aware of the potential problem after I had paid my deposit. At that time the view of many was that the problem was unlikely to occur on MY17's. The cars had been in production for over 2 years before mine was built, so I would have expected them to sort out these sort of problems by then. The problems with oil dilution also demonstrates that JLR development procedures are abysmal.

NOT fixed
I will upload later
More chiselling and hammering at base of the b pillar , padding on the seatbelt retractor at base of b pillar, chiseling and hammering on lower can't rail of door.
Basically splitting the entire seam round the door now.

Now added three more steps and now 58 pages
Last step after the same welding at top of b pillar says ......if the noise continues after this .....
How sad.

No closing VIN date either , affects all vehicles including MY18.
