P0027 Exhaust valve

Post by Andy131 » Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:13 am

Turns out when LR assistance came out to look at the nice new orange light on my dash, it was error code p0027 Exhaust valve outside it's normal parameters. Best bit is it was the 18th time in 185 starts, but the first time that I had noticed it.

Anyone got an idea what it looks like and where it is?

The issue seems to have gone away for now, but as the car is booked in to have balance shafts done in a few weeks I'm sure the dealership will enjoy looking for it while the engine is out.
2018 DS HSE Lux.
2017 DS HSE auto, for 45k nice (grey!) car.
2014 Ewok for 6 months, really really rubbish.
2008 FL2 for 185k miles, should have kept her.
2006 FL1 for 110k miles, brilliant car.
2000 FL1 for 100k miles, fell apart but started the LR bug

Might it be a reference to one of the cylinder head exhaust valves rather than "the" exhaust valve...?

Sounds more like variable valve timing solenoid is sticking, so either staying open too long, or not opening soon enough.
Would be nice if that was the cause of my poor(ish) fuel economy rather than my size 13 leaning heavily on the loud pedal.

Ok so the solenoid was replaced when the engine was out in February at 13,000 miles. Now in October at 22,000 miles it’s back again. Now replaced for the second time. Give away is that local LR dealership has them in stock, so must be a common fault.
