My DS is just under 3 yrs old. I have a acquaintance that is the Service Manager for another vehicle brand that likes to keep his hand in the tools. I will get him to do the work.

I have just been on Euro Car parts site and can get a 45% discount on my first order.
Eurocarparts and GSF have permanent (this weekend only) discounts of between 45 and 60%. Oddly, with this amazing discount Factored in, their prices always match everyone else’s.

Permanent discount codes but they also fluctuate the prices too, I’ve known people to get a full set of Pagid brakes for under £50 !

It’s also worth checking their sister site carparts4less (take the part/item number from ECP) as sometimes they are cheaper. Also check their eBay store, I just bought rear discs there for half the price of their website (after code),

It’s a simple enough job for any garage, if you don’t/can’t change them yourself try Halfords or ATS, I’ve used both and fairly priced. With Halfords last year the warranty was lifetime, although not sure if it’s still available. Very reasonable brake fluid change cost too. As already stated modern pad material takes more from the disc than old asbestos based linings.

Kwik fit also did a lifetime ‘guarantee’ where they’d replace future parts free of charge provided you kept the vehicle and you paid the labour charge. I’m not sure many people keep a vehicle long enough to need two sets of replacement brakes but it did cover rapid wear due to sticky callipers etc

There are far superior brake discs and pads available than the LR 'box of porridge' OE.

Both Brembo and Pagid have decent, far better longevity offerings, at a decent price if you look around.
