Then surely it shouldn't have taken the drive off the rear wheels.

Agree chippy but looking at it again I did wonder if this was a trick of the camera , the rears do seem to drive , perhaps faster at times. Did the camera cancel there speed out and make them look static?

The "camera" was just a phone (Lenovo I think), so yes with compression, conversion and all there must be some sort of artefacts, disturbing the real image.

Can't see that being the case myself. Under such conditions I would hope that 4WD was available the whole time.

Maybe Spikes will be able to enlighten us after his up and coming experience day.

Those Treds look a good piece of kit. Anyone know a UK Outlet for them? I can't find any thing outside Australia!

They are a brilliant piece of kit. I could only find them in Australia or on eBay in de US of A. That's where I got them. The fit across in the boot. I always take them with me on trips, together with some spare fuel in a No-spill can: http://www.nospill.com

I have a set of the Maxtracks, similar principle but longer than the Treds, and still fit in the boot of the DS. Very popular in Australia, and pretty much an essential piece of kit for going offroad. I wouldn't go on sand without them - that and a shovel to get them under the wheels.

It's a feature of the traction control that you get some wheelspin before the TC clicks in. The exact opposite of the way you'd drive a traditional Land Rover. The secret (according to my LRE instructor) is to increase the power gently until it all starts to work. Not saying that's what happened/didn't happen here, but it's worth remembering!

Past Master I believe and have read , but not 100% sure part of this increase in wheelspin over older vehicles is partly to do with the new Haldex 5 system compared to Haldex 4 of old .
I've heard that it takes a few seconds longer to react to the loss of traction than the older haldex4 systems.
The main move to haldex 5 was weight and cost driven too, but they say both systems are equally capable overall.

Dab the brakes. Forces the traction control to kick in.
