New Si4 DS - Enjoying Petrol again

Post by Robbie.H » Wed Apr 03, 2019 12:25 pm

Just picked up a new Petrol DS; enjoying the experience so far; feels a different car to drive compared to 2 previous diesel DS I have owned.

Early days, but no issues. Like the performance and smooth, quieter drive; and of course, less oil changes!..time will tell on mpg..

Took the decision to go tan leather this time, really like the contrast rather than all black; pictures never do the colour justice though..

Looking forward to staying on the forum a while more now.. :D

The petrols are beautifully smooth to drive, but just not good enough for towing for me.

But when my towing days are over, I could se me in the petrol version.

My old van was 1600kg’s and I have towed that and my new 1800kg van with the P240.

It wasn’t great to be honest even on the 1600kg’s van. Pulled well enough but tended to be extremely revvy.

But I am spoilt with the D240.

As I said on the other thread , it depends how much towing you will do, the weight of the caravan m any other driving you do if your just a once a year holiday caravan tower.

Much more to be taken into consideration that just diesel or petrol peak torque.

Petrol is service once a year with a five year plan, but a diesel that “should be serviced annually only gets 2 servicings on the plan over 5 years.

Compairing the 240 with the p290 would be a better marker . Likewise the 180 to the 240.

It’s a shame they didn’t put the v6 petrol 380 supercharged in the DS😂😂, now that would be a good car !

Be interesting to see if the new Ingenium 3.0 straight 6 will go in transversely.

From what I have seen at the engine plant the new 6 cylinder engine is very compact.

But on the original subject, the diesels are the better tow cars. Can’t argue against that 😉
