This is going to sound really daft but can anyone confirm what this rectangular plastic box is mounted on the windscreen? I've had the car a few months and never really noticed it until I looked at possible mounting points for a dashcam.

I thought it might be something from the previous owner but before I pry it off and just wanted to check with other owners to make sure its safe to remove. If its a stock part then I'll be leaving it well alone.

DON'T rip it out. Whatever it is there is one fitted to mine - so it's part of the original build.
Hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along and enlighten us.

Yea I was looking at it again today, think passenger side should work well.

Same box on my DS 2016 - believe it is the rain sensor cover.
My dash cam located on other side of mirror and my toll tag is mounted just below and same side as cover and works well in that position.
