Hi, I have just purchased a 2018 Sport HSE with 47000 miles, just noticed a distinct clunk from the rear end when turning slowly. Could this be the rear diff?

Possibly. I'd take it straight back to the dealers whilst its still under warranty and get it checked.

Don't be shocked if it turns out to be a front driveshaft bearing, or a wheel bearing - transmission sounds travel really well on the DS.
I thought that the rear diff was going on mine, turned out that the RH front driveshaft has a support bearing mid way along it's length, the bearing housing was a slack fit - known fault and done under warranty.
Definately back to the dealership.
