No - ford duratorq diesel. I'm increasingly worrying that makes me the poor relative at the Xmas table.
Should not matter what engine you have if the transmission is not working properly. Neighbour has a Jeep with the same transmission and his is working fine now as well.

Keep it in sport mode.
Sport mode is not relevant and not helpful with this problem.
About as helpful as LR!.

They have done updates for the Ingenium but not for the 2.2, you shouldn't have to drive it in sport mode but it made no difference in mine anyway. There was nothing wrong with it changeing gears just the pick up at low speed.

You are correct ccomley, one of the reasons mine was sold, merc gearbox is 9 speed as well but absolutely brilliant.

What gets me is why my dealer still looks blankly at me when I talk about this issue.
.
Yes, that's really rather annoying. that's them pretending you're the first person to ever comment on it, and you know it's not even the first TIME anyone's commented.

(Any evoke drivers here? I assume they get the same.)
Mine has a different approach saying "they are all like that", doesn't make me feel any better!.

Apologies, quite correct! Don't know how that slipped through my checking!!

However, really 8 given 1st is really the low transfer "box" equivalent.
I was a bit worried I had been short changed  .

I have a new Ingenium loaner at the moment, only 170 miles on the clock, this hesitates as much as my 2.2.
Had 2 loan Ingeniums over the past few weeks, one was better than my 2.2 and the other was about the same.
Since I had mine in for a service last week and the technician played with it, it seems a bit better, will be interested to see how they do with yours Moose.

Drove an Ingenium at Lr Experience centre at the w/e. Gearbox was much better in step-off than my car. I have a service coming, will be asking for a software update and crossing my fingers.
Lofi, just been there, car serviced yesterday, told I have latest software, update was for cars within specific vin range, not ours..

Cheers Chippy, car booked in for service end of March, will mention update but guess dealer will plead ignorance as it was in a couple of weeks ago for sat nav and they never mentioned it.

Found the following on Honest John regarding the Porsche macan, sounds similar to the DS:

"-2-2016: Complaint of 'flat spot' when setting off frtom rest in 15,000 mile 2015 Porsche Macan S. Owner has "lost confidence in it going into, for instance, roundabouts since I am never sure if, when I press the accelerator, it will respond immediately or hit that dreaded flat spot and almost stall." This is typical VAG and dates back to some trouble they had with runaway automatics in Audi 100s in the USA. They fit a detent device that prevents the lever being moved from N to D unless the brake pedal is pressed. Unfortunately the brake pedal switch also has the effect of delaying fuel delivery to the engine so you can't always come off the brakes and power away. A Macan is basically an Audi Q5 and as such shares the Q5's massive longitudinal s-troninc direct shift transmission with its benefits and its faults."

After having the DS for 10 months now, I am getting used to the slow take up, the lack of response to me is more noticeable when towing, the DS will not change down quick enough on slow in lines resulting in the engine struggling.
The only solution is to manually drop it a cog on the paddles.
Needs remapping.
You are right Moose, you do get used to what the auto does and compensate for it, shouldn't have to but I don't find it an issue now.

In my opinion auto box is brilliant except for pulling away quickly from a standstill, I think the issue is that car stops and starts in 2nd gear and when you press the accelerator hard it is in wrong gear for fast getaway. As I said before you get used to pressing accelerator lightly to get moving and judging the gaps you can pull into at roundabouts etc..

Tommo

Loads of posts on forum regarding this, do a search to view, I have had the car 9 months and you do get used to it even though you shouldn't have to.
