Restricted Performance warning

Add me to the caselog, I got major power loss, Red warning symbol and "Restricted Performance" on Tuesday night driving home. Luckily less than a mile and a half to go so limped home with the hazards on to warn other cars - really slow up hill!
I got LR Assistance out first thing Wed morning (came in less than an hour and spent 20 mins with diagnostics in hand. He wrote up a report with 3 fault codes that he had never seen at the same time; two indicated "corrupt or out or date software in the engine control module, update to latest" and when he looked, I already have the latest level software. The other code was not achieving proper boost - it certainly did that! The LR assist technician gave me a report sheet to hand in and arranged a replacement Evoque at my dealer 12 miles away; I took the DS as soon as I had a call from the dealer to say they were expecting me. It's been there since and an update yesterday said they were checking it out and had raised a technical assistance request with LR. This afternoon. I was informed that LR has sent a set of tests to be run so since I am out tomorrow to East Anglia, I am OK to keep the loan vehicle into (or over?) the weekend.
Watch this space.

I have my DS back after a fruitless week of diagnostics, test drives up to 40 miles and back-and-forth between dealer and LR TA (I guess Technical Assistance?) with checks and measurements.
Bottom line is "no fault found" so I am back on the road with some trepidation that the fault will recur.
If it does happen again, I have decided that whatever time of the day or night it is, I will get to a safe stopping place (e.g. off at next motorway junction) and hit the call button, which works amazingly well, I must say. I will NOT shut the car systems down (off and locked) in the hope that LR Assist will see the fault present but not sure if I could bring myself to keep the engine idling for an hour.

Thanks for reporting it. LR need to see all these incidents and work out what is happening.

I had the same as MouseKiller49. Assist found the fault codes, booked me into dealer PDQ and they had it for a day but the fault light had cleared on my way. No issues side apart form the other week the MIL (engine shape Amber warning light) came on.
LR assist called via the car and came and seeing the age (18months) and mileage (28k) made a fun bet that it will be the EGR position or the cam phase sensor! Answer from the fault code = cam phase. His laptop came with a software patch to allow the cam phase sensor to see a little more margin before turning in the light. The technician explained it like this "the cam phase varies between 10 and 4 and your sensor has seen 3.5 so put on the warning light. No impact on running. The software patch allows a bit more leeway in any positional error before the light comes on"

Restricted Performance fault has happened again. This time on the A17 about 100 miles to go to home. I was looking for an opportunity to pass an HGV doing 52, saw a possibility coming up so dropped from 6th to 4th (manual box) maintaining the same road speed and the red warning triangles came on, engine would not rev over 1600. I dove on 5-6 miles to the next filling station/services/hotel on a roundabout, stopped engine. got out and locked the car, went to the boot to get drink bottle and snacks to have them a bit nearer in case I had to call LR assist. I then went back to the driving seat and the car started normally, lights gone.
I competed my journey home without further incident and rang dealer to add fault diagnosis for this to my scheduled booking on 2 May for DEF top-up and attention to tailgate gas struts. Recall P096 was waiting on the mat when I got home so dealer will do that too (engine harness foul on umbilical bracket).

Sorry to read of your problem. Mine is at the dealer on Tuesday for diagnosis of recent restricted performance event, tailgate struts, DEF top-up and harness recall, I will report the findings here.
I stopped the car, switched off and locked it, left for a minute than unlocked and restarted normally. Did 90 miles home and just been to Coventry and back 290 miles without any issues.
Note for all - restricted performance seems to rev limit at 1600 with low boost so you can continue to make progress. Above 1600 is rough as old boots. The first time it happened I continued to home 2 miles, this time I went about 5-6 miles until lI got to a garage forecourt where I could shut it down for a re-boot. I have to do this for my PC from time to time too!

Update - dealer says that no fault code was trapped when the Restricted Performance light came on and as I was "low" on DEF, the dealer suggested that the acceleration event I mentioned, had sloshed the DEF to one side and triggered the critical low DEF level sensor and restricted performance.
I'm not convinced as there was no DEF-related warning and the first time this happened (last year) I had just had a DEF top-up.
Big red triangle and no fault code - sounds odd to me but I'll drive on and stay aware - just hope it doesn't happen half way through an overtake next time instead of "as I got ready to go", this time!

Further challenged the service dept who spoke to the technician. There was a fault code @ 32,140 miles. P213E-00 Injector Performance. Land Rover advised a software update to the Power Control Module but on checking my system technician found that all of the software on my vehicle was indeed up to date. (I would hope so as LR Assist did it at the roadside on 27th Feb to clear the MIL, no performance issue, because the cam phase sensor had gone over-range).
The technician has had more than one Evoque come in with restricted performance, low on DEF that were cured by DEF top-up so he/'s adamant that's the root cause, even though I drove over 400 miles since the incident (and my DIY re-boot that cleared it), on ever lower and lower DEF in the tank(!) without issues. My leg is feeling very pulled but I'll see what happens as it's fine now.
