I'll add my experience to this issue, sadly I don't have an answer and playing with heater and a/c hasn't helped in my case.

The car has done the exact same commute since we bought it In January which is 6.8 miles each way to and from my wife's place of work.

From January to 10 July, the entire journey was done in EV mode (with the car set to hybrid).

From 12 July we started seeing the ICE start up immediately and then go to EV after 1 to 2 miles. This has gradually got worse and now we get between 1 and 2 miles of the morning journey in EV whilst 3 to 4 of the afternoon journey is in EV. The ICE always starts at the beginning of the journey.

There was some chatter elsewhere in this forum that a software change may have introduced this, either deliberately or erroneously.

I will just add that the car these days shows 33 miles of EV range in the morning. It was up to a high of 37 in the summer and a low of 24 in the winter.

I have been avoiding what I expect to be a pointless call to my dealer, but I will probably go ahead and call them next week.

It would be good to have a clear answer on this from JLR. I believe Evoque drivers are experiencing the same scenario.

Pleased to hear the next S/W upgrade fixes this. Not arrived at mine yet but I await eagerly.

I can confirm that the turn climate off workaround works for me and allows the car to stay in EV mode.

Has anyone else received this new build yet? I am still on 2.1.3e as of 18th September.

I finally made contact with my dealer's hybrid specialist to whom I explained the problem in detail.

He asked two questions:

1) Did I have enough fuel because the car won't run in EV if there isn't enough. I explained I have never been below 50%

2) Is the car in EV, Hybrid or Save mode. I explained again that from January through July 10 the car managed a daily commute of 14 miles without the ICE starting and that it didn't matter if the car was in EV or Hybrid. Now it can very rarely be switched to EV mode and in Hybrid the ICE is running almost all the time. I didn't complicate matters by explaining the 'climate off' workaround, which is still working well for me.

With this clarification provided he believes there must be a fault and that it needs to be booked in.

No mention of any known faults or software issues.

We'll see what happens first, the new software landing or my appointment on 8th November.

Can't say I am filled with confidence with the hybrid specialist's line of questioning.

Hi FThewlis

Looking forward to hearing the outcome of your next visit to the dealer. Mine goes in 8/11 for a full week. I’ll certainly post back.

It would be useful for us to post our software versions because some have suggested the problem was fixed with ‘the latest software’ and I have been waiting for this latest software for about a month now.

Mine is 2.1.3e installed 18th September.

Regards

Good luck RichardP1, let’s hope it is the coolant heater! Mine is still in the workshop waiting for the part on back order, it’s been there since last Wednesday and no sign of a date yet!
I got OS 2.1.6 on 3rd Nov. I would say there is a slight improvement in that I can get onto battery earlier and stay on it for longer. However it is far from the original and expected: turn car on and drive on battery until it runs out.

Mine went into the dealership today and they have diagnosed the coolant heater as expected. As other posters, there is no date on availability of the part as yet.

That could be very useful information thanks for sharing.

I emailed lradvice the other day about this and they have asked for my dealer’s details so maybe communication about the issue is finally getting around. We can only live in hope.

Got ours back today after first service and HV coolant heater replacement. Pleased to report the car is back to the way it should be. IE climate and EV working at the same time.
