Hi,Will the 2.2 diesel engine be better with regular diesel or will upgrade to BP Ultimate/Shell V-Power or similar brands be of benefit or will they cause harm ?
I noticed a tangible difference with using Shell Nitro diesel, noticeably more responsive engine, no smoke, quiter running. I will be treat my girl to,the could stuff as oils cheap at the mo.
Interesting to know benifit can be gained, I do circa 25k miles a year in a company car and have not noticed any performance/economy gain difference between standard and the more expensive stuff, although can't remember using Shell Nitro. I will have to give it a go.
My current XF and the Mitsubishi Outlander I had previous both had fitted the same 2.2 diesel lump. I used supermarket fuel in both and didn't have a single problem.
The manual says regular diesel is OK but premium diesel is recommended. Just no dodgy biodiesel that you've knocked up from the dregs of the local fish and chip shop
