If you do try it but a piece of board on the floor, I don't think the std flooring, particularly the tool cover bit is very strong.

Agree with some board, but also drop the 2nd row seats and spread the load out.
You should then be fine with somewhere near 400kg (equivalent to 3 large blokes in the back) or even a bit more.

I had twelve 2' square 2" deep concrete pavers in mine the other week, she pulled fine.

The weight of the things kept them from moving around, so I didn't even bother to strap them down - I live in a steep hilly area.
