Re: Power Steering Failure

Phone the Land Rover Customer Experience Centre and they should arrange for 100% payment to the dealer for the replacement rack. The dealer may argue that this will come without a warranty, but ignore that - this is a known design defect and should be the subject of a global recall. Without the alumi...

Re: Power Steering Failure

As I understand, investigating the bolts for signs of corrosion entails a high risk of shearing them, thereby necessitating a complete steering rack replacement. Not surprising that they don't want to risk it!

Re: Power Steering Failure

I would take it to the Dealer where it has been serviced - they will be familiar with the problem and should offer you 80% of the repair costs with a 3 year guarrantee. Accept this offer but let them know you will contact JLR Customer Experience Centre at Customer Experience Centre Abbey Road, Whitl...

Just seen a photograph of the steering rack assembly, and on the power steering motor is a parts label which says 'Made in China'!. Say no more.

Re: Power Steering Failure

Thanks for the parts diagram. The Canadian recall notice at https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng&mk=5472&md=EVOQUE&fy=2013&ty=2013&ft=&ls=0&sy=0&rn=2018180&cf=SearchResult&pg=0 suggests that the bolts can be replaced: "Dealers will replace the alumin...

Re: Power Steering Failure

My March 2016 Discovery Sport HSE suffered this failure on exiting a motorway and approaching a high speed roundabout at about 50mph - it was a real battle to negotiate the roundabout without being hit by heavy goods vehicles. I hadn't read the forum on this topic, so at first assumed a front wheel ...

DEF Level reset - does a dealer have to do it?

I got a low DEF warning so I filled up the DEF tank from the AdBlue pump at a local fuel station - it took just over 15 litres. I expected the alarm to go and the range indicator to shoot up to about 10,000 miles, but they have stuck where they were. Does a dealer have to reset the alarm and indicat...

Re: Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected

I understand from a Land Rover Assist mechanic that the quality sensor can get blocked by crystals of urea which precipitate out of the DEF. It's a design fault but not easy to rectify.
