Re: Engine replacing Balance Shaft

So, now the satisfied (if temporary) owner of a Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE whilst they sort out my DS. Managed to get an agreement that they will give me a full tank of diesel in the DS as recompense for the additional cost of running the RRS and, most surprisingly, they have SIGNED a document stati...

Re: Engine replacing Balance Shaft

So, the plot thickens... Had Inchcape Preston and LR Assist on the phone this afternoon. They have advised that I use the car as little as possible and have arranged to collect it tomorrow and leave me a courtesy car for the duration! Parts are, apparently, on back order but they are concerned about...

Re: Engine replacing Balance Shaft

Further to my earlier post the car is in the workshop today and it is balance shaft problem. Parts are ordered and meanwhile they have replaced rear disc which they say are corroded. Shafts will be there tomorrow and car should be back with me Saturday. That seems incredible judging the amount of w...

Re: Engine replacing Balance Shaft

Just had the diagnosis of balance shaft bearing failure on my 4 month old DS with 7500 miles (actually think it went around 2 months and 4000 miles but took a while to get it to the dealer). Just waiting to hear when if will be going in and whether it is repair or replacement engine. Watch this spac...

Re: Under boot storage

I planned to make a round box that would sit on top of the spare wheel to hold all my work kit but, having fitted a dog guard and boot liner it is so difficult to lift the floor that I haven’t bothered (yet).

Re: Warranty / service pack - does it matter which franchise ?

If it helps, I bought my DS from Inchcape in Preston but have been using Lloyd’s in Carlisle for Adblu and warranty work without issue.

Re: 7 seat fiasco?

I looked at the third row seats before we purchased our DS and concluded that they would never be used due to limited access and legroom (we have no children under 14 in the family and they are all quite tall). We opted for a five seat configuration with loads of additional storage under the floor.

Re: Rejecting the Car

Thanks Highlander. I bought it new in September and have done around 6500 miles, mostly motorway. It has recently developed a whistle between 1500 and 2000 rpm that sounds like the balance shaft problem that others have described. It is going back to the dealer on 10 Jan to have it investigated but,...

Re: Rejecting the Car

I don’t want to hijack somebody else’s thread but I have a few general questions about the rejection process... - I have fitted an LR dog guard to my DS which involves drilling four holes in the panels in the boot. These will obviously be noticeable when the dog guard is removed. Will I be penalised...
