Re: Rusty brake discs & Calipers

The only other car I've EVER had to have the discs changed on was a Jeep Cherokee. And the build quality on that car was terrible. On the DS my rear pads and discs were changed at 20,000 miles under warranty. Now on 42,000 and no problem, so my replacements at least are good.

Re: Just about to buy...

Enjoy! A few on here have been disappointed but many of us like the car very much. If you add your location to your info on the sidebar (see mine for example) and add details of the car to your signature it may help us to offer help/advice etc. Slightly worried by your salesman's remark, but experie...

Re: Just about to buy...

They are good cars, but you may need the remains of the warranty and the LR Assist service - their people know more than the dealers. Mine is just coming up to three years old and I've decided to keep it another year and take out the extended warranty. You haven't told us your location, so we can't ...

Re: Can you really off-road a D180 DS?

I did once, and to my surprise they paid up! Had to do a rescue on Dartmoor and had my FL1 rather than the usual military Defender. Managed to dent both sills and break the plate under the engine (stupidly made of alu, so couldn't be welded!) It was a long time ago and I can't remember which company...

Re: Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected

Unfortunately it appears from Descoot's post that the fault first occurred once the car was out of warranty.

Re: Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected

Will they install the new software even when out of warranty ? Thanks I doubt if anyone on here knows the answer, as I think the fault has always occurred within the warranty period. You could be the first in this situation. I suspect "yes" if you have Extended Warranty, and "yes but you'll have to...

Re: Can you really off-road a D180 DS?

I wasn't trying to teach you to suck eggs Mamil! I was just giving my thoughts to a new owner. Luckily we don't have much soft sand over here, and I have found the system to work well in mud. Generally, as an occasional off-roader, I prefer the new system over the traditional. Incidentally, my car w...

Re: Can you really off-road a D180 DS?

Kielder Experience details here: https://www.kielder4x4safari.co.uk/ If your dealer isn't helpful about LR Experience half days, you can phone up and book yourself in. So long as you have bought a new car they will have your details on their books. If you want to try other LR vehicles to compare the...

Re: Can you really off-road a D180 DS?

From my limited experience (mainly on LR Experience days, but not entirely) there are three points I would make. Ground clearance is an issue. The LRE instructor was clearly concerned about bottoming out. I've had a few worrying moments myself on rutted tracks. The LR system is not like traditional ...

Re: Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected

Thought that might be the case. So it's an Ingenium and it needs fixing. It won't go into limp mode but after a while it will refuse to start.
