Re: Rear Disc replacement -- Brake maintenance Mode

They are all made of steel. Perhaps they may have some impurities in it perhaps that make them rust more. Only guessing. Probably a lot of other cars or aftermarket discs out there made of the same steel.

Re: Rear Disc replacement -- Brake maintenance Mode

I read the technical note. It seems that they sometimes replace the disks under warranty due to more rust than expected. It still surprises me that they are that generous to change a rusted disc under warranty as they rust on all cars. Changing pads or disks, after 3 years, is not that unusual, depe...

Re: Rear Disc replacement -- Brake maintenance Mode

A surprising reason for a fail, assuming that they still functioned ok. Discs will always corrode as they are steel items exposed to the weather all the time, it will be all the worse if the car isn’t used everyday to rub off the rust forming. Same on most cars. Warranty doesn't normally cover wear ...

Re: Rear Disc replacement -- Brake maintenance Mode

Surely its not a wise move to be jacking the car up under the towbar,? even temporarily. (assuming that you have one anyway!) Lifting the whole rear end of the car massively exceeds the limits recommended for it. Since I installed the tow bar (see my other video on the same YouTube channel) then I ...

Re: Rear Disc replacement -- Brake maintenance Mode

I just changed the pads. Leaving the engine running in N and EPB off got annoying as the exhaust was too close to where I was working. The alternative I used was to turn off the EPB and then disconnect the plug to the EPB motor. Then it can’t come back on! Then turned off engine. Had to remove EPB m...

Re: Handbrake release

I can't completely agree with prolonged stationary periods in drive. When I select neutral anticipating a longer stop the engine definitely backs off to a gentler idle. This shows that fuel is being wasted churning the torque converter and warming up the transmission fluid. Better to leave in D and...

Re: Rear Disc replacement -- Brake maintenance Mode

I’ve done 21000 miles and brake wear warning is on. Looks like rear pads. I didn’t expect the warranty to cover what I considered wear and tear. So I didn’t even bother asking and at £25 for a set of Mintex pads (my preferred choice) and £12 for the wear sensor I thought it easier and less time cons...

Re: Handbrake release

An automatic gearbox is not like a manual. In an automatic you get more gearbox wear by switching it in and out of neutral as the clutches in the gearbox are switching in and out. If you leave in D when stationary then no clutches change and only the torque convertor is involved in releasing the eng...

Thanks. The car in the video was a 7 seater by the way.
