Re: New Disco servicing rules

Yesterday I drove down to Barnsh territory and back, namely Fingest/Ibstone/Turville/Nettlebed, which was approximately 83 miles each way, on the M40 at a steady 80'ish, and (mostly) 50/60mph A roads after that, plus the odd B road but not for long. I had the ghastly Auto Stop/Start on, not by choi...

Re: SSM73697

Does SSM73697 exist still ? When I search topix, all I can seem to come up with is LTB01164v2 Auto Amber Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Warnings. Perhaps it has been changed to an LTB, without seeing the contents its hard to say. Try downloading it and you may find the answer. It’s not the first t...

Re: Service interval

The problem -9, is that if that were the case, the instruction some 2k miles later is to carry out main service WITHOUT oil and filter change. Which they still charge non-plan customers for. They are NOT changing the oil under warranty and then changing it again at service point - you will still pa...

Re: Service interval

I think they did it delierately as they programned it. But the consequence is now for Disco owners not dealers - especially without a service plan. A sticky plaster solution not solving the root cause. Jlr100 says oil dilution causes engine failure, so if mileage is now just reset rather than oil r...

Well constructive ideas for a noise we cannot hear is a bit hard .
Would have been easier if the OP had posted a vid or soundtrack.
It’s. 2.2 after all so shouldn’t have the balance shaft issue,, might be his phone for all We know. 😀😀😀

Re: 3rd gear beep noise 2.2 auto

If you have a bearing that’s just starting to go and you accelerate quickly through its resonant frequency point it starts as a what may sound to some as a beep as it passes through that point. Over time the band increases due to wear ind it’s more definable as a whine , then becomes a grating noise...

Re: 3rd gear beep noise 2.2 auto

If it’s more of a whine , and you can sustain the whine noise above a certain rpm it might be turbo or could even be balance shaft problems of which we’ve had a few on here.

There’s a thread for balance shaft on here which includes a video of the noise.

Re: The death of diesel? Or the future?

Basically I think everyone that used that Bosch ECU unit was cheating . There’s no way some companies didn’t use the default (cheat) bit of the program. I wonder if that added to the delay of the DS ?? The news broke of the first dieselgate just as it was due to be released ....then delays came for ...
